(See Mass Intentions ) SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM FOR INFANTS: Baptism is celebrated by appointment on the second and fourth Sundays of the month after the 12:15 PM Mass. A reflection on the gift of the Sacrament of Baptism is provided monthly for parents, in the Parish Office. Call the Religious Education Office to register. INITIATION INTO THE CHURCH (RCIA & CIC): RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) and CIC (Christian Initiation of Children) are processes by which un-baptized persons and baptized persons from other faith traditions or with no formal religious education, are brought into the Church. Please contact the Religious Education Office. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: All children of the parish are expected to receive Religious Education in the parish school or the CCD program. Preparation for First Holy Communion and Confirmation take place in this context. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: The Sacrament is available Saturday 3:00-3:45 PM, and any time by appointment. SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE: Arrangements must be made at least six (6) months in advance of the anticipated date by contacting the priest. A date will not be set until a couple has met with the priest. RELIGIOUS VOCATIONS: For information on the priesthood or religious life contact the priest or the Vocation Office of the Diocese of Pittsburgh at , ext. 23. SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK: Every Sunday after the 8:00 am Mass this Sacrament is offered for anyone who is facing an operation or going into the hospital. If you are homebound and need this sacrament, contact the Parish Office. HOSPITALIZED PARISHIONERS AND SHUT-INS: Please call the Parish Office if someone in your family is hospitalized or a shutin. If a parishioner is not able to attend Mass, the priest and/or Eucharistic Ministers can take Communion to the home on Sundays. NOCTURNAL ADORATION: There is exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on the First Friday of the month from 10 PM until 7AM. PARISH REGISTRATION: Those new to the area, newlyweds and single adults, are asked to register by contacting the Parish Office.

2 Page 2 CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations to our Forensic Team (Alejandro Badran, Chloe Shovlin, Madeline Dillon, John LeMasters, Elizabeth Luzar, Bridget McNamara, Maddie Banaszak, Jillian Reynolds, Tessa Twyman, Abby Wertz) for placing at the First Diocesan Forensics Tournament on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Philip s. Excellent Job! Congratulations to the following Band students, Abby Wertz clarinet 3 rd chair out of 13, Rachel Stern alto saxophone 1 st chair out of 8, and Madeline Dillon trombone 3 rd chair out of 6, for making the 2017 Catholic School Honor Band. Fantastic job on an amazing accomplishment! SAVE THE DATE The Inaugural St. Margaret of Scotland Golf Outing will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Butler s Golf Course. OPERATION SHOE BOX Many Blessings, Mr. Munz Heartfelt thanks to our parishioners, and the children, parents and staff of both our parish school and the CCD program for their outpouring of items for this year s Operation Shoe Box project. Due to the generosity of all, the St. Vincent de Paul Society was able to fill and wrap 276 shoe boxes. They were distributed to residents of St. Joseph s House of Hospitality, Michael s Place, Family Promise, Womenspace East, Light of Life Rescue Mission, Salvation Army s Harbor Light Center, Pleasant Valley Shelter for Men, Shepherd s Heart Veterans Home as well as Monarch Springs, Carnegie and Bethel Park group homes for former Mayview patients. The boxes brought much joy to all and in the true spirit of Christmas. Friday, December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a holy day of obligation. Please see the Mass Intentions section of the bulletin for the Mass schedule. 1st Sunday of Advent ON MISSION: The Work of God s Hands Today we begin the season of Advent, our annual time of joyful expectation as we await the coming of Jesus Christ. Our waiting is two-fold. More immediately, we anticipate the celebration of Christmas and the anniversary of the Son of God coming as one like us to love us and to set an example for us to follow. At the same time, we actively await the time when Christ will come again in glory and call all people to himself. Throughout the Advent season, as in today s Gospel, we will hear the call to be alert and ready for the Lord s coming that we might not be caught off guard. That readiness includes allowing the God who created us in his image to continue to form our hearts and lives to be more like His own, for we are the clay and [He] the potter. As we also anticipate the changes coming in our parishes as part of the On Mission for The Church Alive! initiative we place our trust in God as he continues to form us and our parishes. May our hearts be formed in patience and peace as we work to build up new communities of faith. May our parishes be formed in vibrancy and unity as places of warm welcome and firm faith. Remind all by putting a beautiful display of the Holy Family nestled inside a Christmas tree in your yard this year. Christmas for a Cause: Holiday Vendor Craft Show Double Tree Green Tree 500 Mansfield Avenue Sunday, December 10, 11am 4pm Free admission, Santa photos, 50/50 drawing, and more. Join us in the fight against pediatric cancer! All proceeds will be donated to Four Diamonds at Penn State Children s Hospital. Children s Liturgy will take place on the FIRST Sunday of each month. Children ages 3 and up are invited and will be escorted over to the Parish Office for an ageappropriate version of the First and Second Readings and the Gospel. Each week, they will receive a Bible Verse sticker to take home. We hope this will be an opportunity to bring the Word of God to our little ones in a very special way. Volunteers are always welcome! Spread a Little Kindness! Team Hospitality is branching out to add greeters before and after each Mass. Do you like to meet and greet people? Would you like to get to know your fellow parishioners? If so, this ministry is for you! If you would like to be a greeter (Job description=meet and greet people as they enter and leave church for masses and other liturgies), please call Karen at , ext. 13 and leave your name, contact information, and mass times and frequencies that you would be willing to do this, and she will get back to you.
