This congregation has been worshipping and serving God in Pasir Ris since Our name, Pentecost, signifies the power of the Holy Spirit given to all believers for the purpose of witnessing to God's reality in this world. WELCOME OUR SPEAKER MINISTRY NEWS & POSSIBILITIES Joseph Chean joined YWAM since 1997 and has served in various roles such as Creative Arts Director, Base and Finance Administrator, Go Centre Director, Base Director before assuming the role of National Director of YWAM Singapore in Joseph preaches, mobilizes and does missions training in Churches and YWAM Bases in Singapore and worldwide. The message that burns in his heart is intimacy with God in hearing and obeying His voice, father heart of God, the Biblical mandate to disciple a nation and God's glory in Asia a prophetic call to the Body of Christ to catch a glimpse of what God is doing and to align ourselves to what God wants to do in Asia. 2. PMC HEALING SERVICE Date : 1 March 2017 (Wednesday) Time : 8:00pm - 10:00pm Venue : Sanctuary, Level 1 Speaker : Mr Jeff Yuen Jeff Yuen, Founder & Senior Pastor of Soakability Church, has brought Christ into the streets for many years, with amazing and miraculous results. He takes God at His Word and goes to places where the need for God s presence is greatest sleazy pubs, sordid back lanes and red light districts. He shares his testimonies and challenges you to go outside the walls of the church to make the world and its everyday situations as pulpits to bring God s transforming power into people's lives. BAPTISM & MEMBERSHIP CLASS Dates : 4, 11, 18, 25 March & 1 April 2017 (5 Saturdays) Time : 2:00pm 5:00pm Venue : Kindness Room, Level 4 Baptism & Membership classes will be conducted for those who want to be baptized, confirmed in the faith and received into membership in PMC. Attendance at all classes is compulsory. (Please note that candidates will be received into church membership only upon fulfilment of specific requirements. The process usually takes 1 year.) Candidate must submit a completed registration form with a recent photo to the Info Counter by 26 February Registration forms are available at the Info Counter. THE LOST ART OF SPIRITUAL FRIENDSHIP Some of us stop making friends after we leave school. Many of us have friends who don't share our faith. The Bible has important things to say about friendship. In fact, the Bible presupposes friendship as a key instrument by which Christians grow and mature. Yet how many can say that we have a spiritual friend - one who is deeply interested in our faith, and who keeps us close to God in this very difficult world? Come and learn from Dr Tan Soo Inn, on why spiritual friendship matters, and how we can rediscover this precious gift. This seminar will focus on the biblical basis for Christian friendship and how we can experience it in our small groups and in intimate groups. 9 PENTECOST METHODIST CHURCH CHILDREN S MINISTRY TEAM 2017 Sunday, 19 February 2017 Children s Ministry Dedication and Pledge Pastor (addresses the congregation): Dearly beloved of God, we are here today to bear witness to the dedication and the pledge of commitment of our Children s Ministry Team. Pastor (addresses the CM team): Have you heard God s call clearly to commit to teach His children for this entire year? Children s Ministry Team: We have heard God s call to teach children through various means about His Kingdom and its foundation of love and truth. We have willingly responded to that call and have committed to teach His children for this entire year. Pastor (addresses the CM team): What is your pledge with regard to the children? Children s Ministry Team: With regard to the children - we pledge to speak the language of love and teach it to our children. We will lay down the foundations of love tempered with godly correction. In our example, we will model to them that love is patient and kind, not jealous or boastful, arrogant or rude, that it does not insist on its own way nor is it irritable or resentful, that love will never rejoice in what is wrong but will rejoice with what is right. With this very love of God we will bear, believe, hope and endure. We will lay in them foundations to become like Christ and to do as Christ would do under life s circumstances. Pastor (addresses the CM team): What is your pledge with regard to the entire team you will work with as One in unity? Children s Ministry Team: With regard to the team we pledge to be faithful to prepare our lessons in advance and be learners first before teachers. We will accept correction without taking offense and gently correct one another that the whole team may be sharpened as iron sharpens iron. We will participate in the building of bonds of love and unity with other teachers, leaders and even parents. We know that the task before us cannot be done by one person overnight, it will take the united effort of the Body of Christ working with One Heart, One Soul, One Mind and One Spirit.

10 Pastor (addresses the CM team): What is your pledge with regard to your own conduct knowing that teachers are held to greater accountability? Children s Ministry Team: With regard to ourselves we pledge that we will with reliance on the Holy Spirit, sharpen our sword which is the Word of God and walk in the truth it teaches. We will persevere in being transformed into the image of Christ our King in word, thought, being and deeds. We will nurture the growth of the Fruit of the Spirit that our lives will bear love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control in good quality and quantity. This we do knowing that teaching comes with great responsibility and the best teachers are those that walk the way they point to others. So Christ our King, hear our prayer: Enable us to teach with wisdom for we shape the mind, equip us to teach with truth for we shape the conscience, enlighten us to teach with vision for we shape the future. Empower us to teach with love for we shape the world. Amen. Pastor (addresses all): Congregation how do you respond? Congregation: We pledge ourselves to pray for you and to encourage you with love knowing that the task you have undertaken is not easy. We will as parents and guardians of our children be learners with you and them, studying Scripture for truth and teaching it at home. We too will be open to correction and above all understand that the primary responsibility of every parent is the spiritual stewardship of our children. What you teach will be in partnership with us, we will feed our children and you will give the finishing touches as God has enabled you. May Christ our King enable us to hold up this pledge at home every day. Pastor (addresses all): We the Body of Christ in Pentecost Methodist Church bear witness today to each other s pledge - with Christ as our witness. Eternal God, I dedicate these called out ones to the service of teaching Your children in our midst in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
