2 The Gospel According to Greg Greg Taylor As I write this article, 28 from our church are pulling out of the parking lot on Monday morning with an end destination of Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Our group, along with hundreds of other high school students and adults, will participate in a week of CIY Move. They will hear some of the very best youth communicators unlock the truth of God s word while making friendships with students from all across the country. They will experience worship each evening that is truly special and hopefully begin to wrestle with God s will for their lives. Please pray each day for our students and our adult leaders! It was 27 years ago this summer when I experienced for the very first time how special a CIY conference can really be. On the campus of Southwest Baptist University in Boliver, Missouri, I made a commitment to serve the Lord vocationally, and two years later found myself as part of the freshman class at then Lincoln Christian College. It was the last week of July in 1985 and I remember it like it was yesterday. I m praying that similar commitments will be made this week, and the next generation of preachers, youth ministers, worship ministers and missionaries will begin to take shape in the hearts and lives of high school students. In worship yesterday, we looked at Acts 18, and the important spiritual life development a future preacher and missionary received. His name was Apollos and he went on to be one of the first century giants of the faith many even believe he is the author of the book of Hebrews. But we studied yesterday the impact of two ordinary people Aquila and Priscilla on his growth and development.
3 The Gospel According to Greg (cont d) Because of their love for Apollos and the grace and encouragement shown to him, he eventually helped to change his world for Christ. We need the next generation of Christian vocational leaders those who will rise up and eventually take the place of men and women like Kent Hickerson, Ernie Harvey, Jim Coonce, Adam Brucker, Barb O Donohue, Jack Swanson, and others. And maybe, just maybe, some of this future generation are going to the spend this week on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan at CIY conference? Never miss the impact of people like Priscilla and Aquila! And while you may not be called to preach a sermon or lead a worship service or become a missionary in Africa, God can and WILL use you if you let him! I m thankful for the Priscilla s and Aquila s in my early life growing up in Champaign. Ordinary people God used in my life: a janitor, a carpenter, a teacher, a stay at home mom, a factory worker, a salesman and a graduate student. Let the Lord use you you will never know the difference you are making both now and for all of eternity. Have a great week and we ll see you Sunday as we enter into our final sermon in the Women of the Faith series. This week we study Esther and her incredible story from the book of Esther. Blessings, Greg

5 Young at Heart David Buck, Coordinator There are more types of fear than we could name or count, but they all have the same source and the same purpose. They are all from the enemy and they intend to steal the life Jesus died to give us. We often think fear is simply an emotion or feeling, but it also affects us physically. Fear is at the root of all stress. Fear always tells you what you re not, what you don t have, what you can t do, and what you never will be. Looking forward to Julie McClarey bringing us a fine program of her talented piano playing. This will happen on the 11 th of July. Then August 1st, Chrissy and Kenny will perform some old country music from the BeMent Country Opry. There will be a special program in September of the Heartland Young at Heart performing their special talents. This will be a new program for us. Trips are still on for July, August, September, and October. However, our Branson trip is a highlight for this week. We ll go on the 12 th of November and return on the 15 th. Leading the shows will be Christmas in Hollywood, a grand country buffet added this year FOR BREAKFAST, Down Home Country Show, Presley s, McFarlin s, Larry Gatlin and Debbie Boone, Red, White, and Blue Show, and The Dutton s Sight And Sound Production of Joseph. Nothing is worth more than this day. Goethe God created you for adventure, for the excitement of a life that requires you to take bold steps of faith and see Him come through for you. So many people are unsatisfied with their lives simply because they won t step out into the new things they desire to do. Don t let fear keep you from the vibrant life God has for you. Even when you feel afraid, don t let it stop you! Baby Shower for Rachel Emery Saturday, July 7 1:00 to 4:00 pm Family Life Center - FCC (Rachel is registered at Target and Toys R Us)
