2 A Message From Pastor Ben A Big HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all mothers on this day. I would like to wish a special happy Mother s Day to my own mother. This is the first year I won t be able to spend Mother s Day with her, but I also thank God for all the times I have been able to in the past, and I pray that each of you constantly thank God for your own mothers who gave birth to you It is a custom of mine each year on Mother s Day to spend some time looking at one of the women in the Bible, and today we are focussing on the story of Ruth. Ruth was a mother who risked a lot to follow God, and with that risk, we see how God used her in an amazing way, and in the same way, I encourage you to take risks to follow God, and see how God can also use you in an amazing way. So often we play it safe and never share that story, or never forgive that person, or don t want to change even if we know that is sometimes what God wants us to do. Have a think about what area of your life God is calling you to risk for Him I pray that you each have a happy and blessed Mother s Day. Ben. If anyone needs a lift, please get in contact with Josh ASAP on For anyone heading down Friday morning, there will be a convoy meeting at the Yamanto Maccas at 5am for a 5.30am departure. We will cruise down to Urbenville (refuel) and then head on into Levuka. If you are getting a lift, make sure you share the cost of entry with the driver as fees are per vehicle (2 adults) Please bring cash to pay entry. Make sure you bring some warm clothes. It WILL BE COLD at night. Pentecost Bible Study Evening Thurs 5 th June All congregations in our parish are invited to come along to Grace on Thurs 5th June 7pm for a Pentecost evening study "Holy Spirit - FAQ" led by Pastor Matt Thiele from Immanuel in Buderim. 5 Beyond Our Door Watato Children s Choir The Whitehill Church of Christ, 219 Whitehill Road, Raceview invites you to come to the concert of the Watato Children s Choir to be held on Tuesday 20 th May at 7.00pm. The Watoto Children s Choirs have travelled internationally since 1994 as advocates for the estimated 50 million children in Africa, orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS, war, poverty and disease. Admission is free but there will be a love offering taken up for the work of Watoto plus merchandise tables and a sponsorship table. 6 Prayer Corner Church Prayer Time A time of prayer is held at Bethany every Sunday at 8.30am. Any and all are welcome to join in with these prayer times. Prayer Points for all pastors, as they shepherd the flock of Christ for all who rule and govern, that they may be shepherds to their people for parents and teachers, that they may shepherd the young for the dying and those who mourn, that God would be present with them as they walk through the valley of the shadow of death for those who have become lost on the path of life for those who do not have enough to eat for those who mourn the death of a loved one, that they may be comforted by the hope of the resurrection Care Slip & General Parish Prayer Requests Prayers for ALL peoples throughout our wonderful land. Please pray for the homeless - may they find somewhere safe and warm to sleep in the cold weather and for those who can find their way home be welcomed back. Thank you God for the gifts of love. Help me to love others as you love us. Pray for family and friends travelling overseas. For peace in the Russian/Ukraine region The many ill and infirm in our Parish - for comfort and / or healing as God sees fit. Thank you for my family. Pray for rain in the dry areas. Please pray that all who are in pain and suffering find relief. Other Prayers Pray for Pastor Joe and Julie Kummerow and family who were involved in a serious car accident near the Bay of Plenty city of Tauranga in the North Island of New Zealand. The Kummerows were returning to Auckland after a post-easter holiday. Whilst the Kummerows suffered minor injuries, the driver of the other car a young mother died at the scene of the accident. Her two young children were taken to hospital in a serious condition; one of them, critical. Please keep the Kummerow s in your prayers and pray for God s comfort and blessing to be with the family who have suffered tragically through this accident.
