1 Bring People to Jesus to Know Him and Make Him Known! Hi there! Wasn t the Devotion great today?! HAPPY! Thanks for living as an exceptional Christ-follower! Thanks for all you do to help us focus all our resolve and resources on Bringing People to Jesus to Know Him and Make Him Known! through all our people, programs and property! Thanks for helping us push aside every lesser thing so we can bring the full-force of Indian River City to his GREATER THING! I hope you have an extra great experience with Jesus today! Today you are reading another of our 2016 SPECIAL EDITIONS of our Monthly Newsletter! WHY?! GREAT QUESTION! Thanks for asking! WWWWWWWEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL...Our Church Council meets quarterly for the purpose of insuring that Indian River City Church stays focused on the course that s been laid out for us to serve Christ and His Cause through the Church! Amazing things are happening throughout our ministries & missions that we want you to know about! Page after page describes what God is doing right now! Every three months our Ministry & Mission Leaders share what God is doing in the life of our Church! Beginning with our Children s Ministries and going through our Students, Adults, Care, Outreach & Hospitality and Worship, we hear about the people who are being impacted by the power that exists within the Good News of Jesus Christ! Stories describing the difference that helping others Know Him! makes in individuals, couples and families from the youngest to the oldest helps us know the great Good News about God! Our hope is that these stories will ignite a fresh fire in people like you and me and inspire us to help Bring People to Know Him and Make Him Known! through our ministries and missions! We find that the people God works through are people just like you and me! We are normal people transformed by coming to Know Him! and experience God s pleasure when we spend ourselves to Make Him Known! One of my greatest thrills is helping people like you become a more fully-devoted follower of Jesus! Serving is first and foremost an act of generosity! The Bible says, There is more happiness in giving than in receiving! (Acts 20:35 ) Generosity increases our personal and collective happiness! The generous use of your time, talents, treasure and things will make a HUGE difference in the health and happiness of our Church! When we all start practicing generosity, our joy will overflow all over everyone and everything! To experience significance in life, we must serve with others around us in ministry and others beyond us in mission! Ministry and Mission means doing good to other people! Significance comes when we start thinking about other people more than we think of ourselves and we spend our lives giving our lives away! We cannot be selfish and significant at the same time! Thanks for joining me and others in being generous! For us to become more like Jesus we will resolve to know nothing except Jesus Christ while we re here! (1 Corinthians 2:2) Let s continue to focus ourselves on that one thing! We can more easily identify all the lesser things that are stealing our time, talent and treasure from God s GREATER THINGS! Let s give all we are and all we have to Bring People to Jesus to Know Him and Make Him Known! Now that s...radical! Bill
2 Children s Ministry News Bringing Children to Jesus to Know Him and Make Him Known! Children s Ministry s summer was jammed packed: Vacation Bible School Cave Quest was a success with 200 volunteers, 350 campers and touched the lives of over 1,000 people in our community and around the world. Over 1,300 books and $1,000 was raised for the local Titusville Chapter of Kiwanis International, Just 1 Book, and Indian River City s Back to School Bash. The Family Fun Night was a tremendous success with the Chick-Fil-A fundraiser being well received. We were happy to donate the VBS set to 3 other churches. Summer Blast The Faith Awakens utilized every available space on the campus for teacher teams to share gifts, talents, skills and resources with 360 campers of the community. The positive energy of almost 200 teenage and adult camp counselors helped to form significant connections. About 10 cards a week are sent to encourage members of the congregation in need of prayer or loss of loved one. Along with notes to those celebrating big anniversaries. These have been well received and are very appreciated. The Order of St. Luke decided to join forces with OSL of St. Gabriel s Episcopal Church in Titusville and no longer meets on our campus. As we enter the 40 Days of Generosity, we thank all those who have helped this ministry those who prayed, made shawls, gifted shawls, donated yarn and money and those who encouraged us along the way. We are so grateful that God has been able to use our simple gifts to bless so many! During the 40 Days of Generosity, we have gals who would love to teach others to crochet or knit. We would also love to receive your gift of yarn to make shawls, if you have a yarn stash you will not use. For information please contact Judy Reynolds ( ; judyr2@cfl.rr.com).
8 As you look at the reports this month, you will see that we ended the month of August with a deficit. The deficit is taken from our reserves from prior years so we are able to pay our bills. This is not unusual for this time of year. Summertime tends to mean our offerings go down. Snow birds head for the north, people go on vacation, and it is generally a more laid back time of year (beach days!). At the same time, our expenses are higher with our summer programs like vacation bible school and youth activities. We are currently monitoring our spending, and delaying purchases where possible until donations begin to increase. Historically, we will not end the year with a deficit, and are able to put funds into reserves for the coming year. And we know that God will provide for His ministries when we are faithful!
