Pilgrim members, women AND men are encouraged to use a mite offering box to collect their coins. We completed over 100 Pretty Pockets that day and there were many more cut out and ready for sewing. By the time it is all said and done, we will have given close to 200 Pretty Pockets to Dr. Mabienco s office and surgery center at St. Mary s Hospital. They were as thankful to receive them as we were to provide them. I would like to thank everyone who participated in this project either by the gift of material or time spent or lending of sewing necessities in the process of making them. I hope I have all the names of the ladies. From Our Redeemer: Janet Hilligoss, Vera Heiser, Carol Glenn and Vicki Byard. From Pilgrim: Phyllis Ruwe, Patti Zeck, Vicki Schroeder, Bonnie Engel, Nancy Wene, Nelda McCoy, Sandy Norris, Nancy Brown, Sheri Egan, Brenda Bunch, Sarah Marsaglia, Merrilee Kuenzel, Doris Pokey, Nancy Jacobs, Dian Centers, Patti Newlin, Melinda Hiser and Kathy Kilzer. Several other ladies asked for the pattern and instructions so they can make them at home. If anyone has some made, you can bring them to me at church or leave them in the Ladies Guild mailbox in the ushers room. We look forward to continuing with this project in the months to come and will share them with the Cancer Care Center and also Decatur Memorial Hospital surgical center in the future. 5 March 29, 2016 The Pilgrim Ladies Guild business meeting was called to order at 6:32 p.m. with 11 members present. Kathy Kilzer, Nancy Wene, Linda Workman, Patti Zeck, Sandy Norris, Nelda McCoy, Melinda Hiser, Jean Mueller, Linda Beals, Nancy Brown, Sarah Marsaglia Vice President Linda beals gave a devotion on the third article of the Apostles Creed from Luther s Small Catechism and gave an opening prayer. The minutes from the March 8, 2016 business meeting prepared by Secretary Dian Centers were read by Linda Beals. No Treasurer s Report was given because this was an Ad Hoc meeting and no deposits or payments have been made since the regular March 8, 2016 meeting. BIBLE and PRAYER GUILD - Linda Beals Linda said the Wednesday morning Bible Classes at 6:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. are still in the study of the Minor Prophets. PRAYER CHAIN Committee - Patti Zeck All is well. Patti has sent 4 cards to Pilgrim members. She resented examples of the cards she sends to Pilgrims to let them know their faith-family is praying for them. Please continue ing your prayer requests to Patti Zeck at pzeck4055@hotmail.com. Prayers may also be requested by calling Patti Zeck at If Patti is not available and you have an urgent prayer request, please call Patti Newlin at the church office ( ). Prayers may also be requested on the back of the Attendance Cards at any church service. CHANCEL GUILD COMMUNION and ROBES Committee - Melinda Hiser Melinda said the cabinet doors in the Communion Room are almost finished by Doug Lueck. Doug will also be doing some refinishing to the altar wood in the near future. Everything else is fine. WEDDING Set Up and Clean Up Committee- Virginia Mosser and Nancy Jacobs Nothing new to report.
6 CANDLE and BRASS Clean Up Committee Linda Snow Linda Snow gave no report, but the candles and brass looked beautiful for the Easter services. Dorcas QUILTING Circle - Linda M. Workman Linda said they finished the quilt in time for the New Life Pregnancy Center s auction. HOSPITALITY GUILD strives to maintain a friendly atmosphere at Pilgrim. It contacts new women at Pilgrim Lutheran Church and draws them into active participation in our programs. This includes frequent contact with Pilgrims in the military. COFFEE Committee - Nancy Wene, Linda Beals, Vicki Schroeder Going well. COFFEE SERVERS Committee - Patti Newlin No report GREETERS Committee - Patti Newlin No report MILITARY Committee- Sarah Marsaglia Sarah Marsaglia is still praying for and keeping in touch with Jeff Whisnant. KITCHEN GUILD - Sandy Norris Sandy Norris said three price estimates for a new refrigerator were submitted to the Church Council. They will arrange for Ameren to pick up the extra refrigerator in the supply room as soon as the Council approves a purchase. Pilgrim will receive a rebate from Ameren for updating to a refrigerator that requires less power. EASTER BREAKFAST Committee - Jean Mueller Jean Mueller said there was a good turn out for the Easter morning brunch. Had donuts left. Good reception to the provided fruits and pastries, etc. CHILDREN S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM Committee - Brenda Bunch No Report RECEPTIONS Committee - Brenda Bunch No Report LIBRARY GUILD - Nancy Brown The library is for the use of Pilgrim members. There are many theologically sound books for study and devotion. MISSIONS GUILD keeps Pilgrim Guild members informed about mission activities locally, statewide and nationally. They also distribute and collect mite boxes and the Braille Center committee prepares reading material for the visually impaired. We are planning contact with other ULMA Ladies Guilds as well as the Australian Lutheran Church ladies to strengthen our Christian sharing through projects. MITE BOXES - Carolyn Rau No Report TRACT GUILD - Vicki Schroeder Vicki has looked over the tract rack to determine what tracts need to be reordered. BRAILLE CENTER Committee - Jean Mueller Jean Mueller said the winter Braille magazine was cancelled. The Spring Braille magazine plates are now in and the magazines will be worked on for at least two months. Work will begin the first Thursday in April. (April 7, 2016) NURSERY GUILD - Erica Bryan The toys have been cleaned and sorted in the Nursery. A Pilgrim s Progress article requested parents put any items donated to the Nursery in a tub to be cleaned before putting them out for the children to use. PROGRAM GUILD - Linda M. Workman Linda Workman said a sign up board will be placed in the Narthex for those who plan to attend the Congregational Dinner to be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. The menu was discussed and planned. Chicken and Noodles with all the sides and desserts will be provided. Volunteers were
7 forthcoming for donations of items on the menu. Entertainment will be provided by the First Presbyterian String Band. The first work day for the combined Guilds of Our Redeemer Lutheran and Pilgrim will be Saturday, April 2, 2016 to work on the Pretty Pockets Projects. Volunteers are scheduled to work at various work stations. SUNSHINE GUILD HOSPITAL Committee - Phyllis Ruwe Sent 10 cards since January 18, Nancy reimbursed me for the months prior expenses for cards and stamps. SHUT-INS Committee - Donna Stine Twenty-nine Easter cards were sent to Pilgrim Shut-Ins. ALTAR FLOWER Committee - Nelda McCoy Nothing new to report. Many thanks to all the helpers who deliver flowers to the nursing homes. FUNERAL Committee - Sandy Norris A funeral dinner was omitted at the last business meeting. A dinner for 87 family and friends of Mary Jane was prepared and served January 9, PRESIDENT S REPORT - Kathy Kilzer None VICE PRESIDENT S NOTES - Linda Beals None OLD BUSINESS - Discussion was once again tabled about organizing a united mission Guilds of the ULMA and Australian Lutheran Evangelical churches. A list was distributed at the last meeting of all ULMA and Australian Lutheran Evangelical churches, listing Guild contacts. NEW BUSINESS - None The meeting was adjourned at 7:32 p.m. with the Lord s Prayer said in unison. These minutes were prepared by Vice President Linda Beals in Secretary Dian Centers absence.
