FAIRTRADE COFFEE & CHOCOLATE Q: What is Fairtrade? Please reference the hallway bulletin boards for current events. Additional information is on our beautiful website kingave.org! Space flights. The generation gap. Those hallmarks of the turbulent 1960 s will be rekindled Friday November 2 at 7:30 p.m. at this year s annual Spirit of the 60 s Coffeehouse, a tradition here at King Avenue Methodist Church for about 20 years now. Bill Cohen will lead a candlelit, musical, yearby-year journey through the era, with live and familiar 1960 s folksongs, news reports of sixties happenings, displays of anti-war buttons and posters, and far-out sixties fashions. Plus, Bill will also challenge the audience with sixties trivia questions. Proceeds from the suggested $10 donations (at the door) will go to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Refreshments will be available at no extra charge. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall, but get there early for a good seat! The program is suitable for ADULTS and MATURE TEENS. For more information, call Bill at (614) or BillCohen@columbus.rr.com GRAD CHAT YOU ARE INVITED to SECOND SUNDAY GRAD CHAT... 6 PAGE 6 October 2018 FAITH FORMATION Book Study: If the Church Were Christian Retired United Methodist Pastor, Mike Mahoney, will lead a 10 week study beginning Wednesday October 10th from 7 to 8:30 PM. It is based on the book If The Church Were Christian: Rediscovering the Values of Jesus by Philip Gulley. Some of the topics discussed will be Reconciliation Would Be Valued Over Judgment, Gracious Behavior Would Be More Important Than Right Belief, and This Life Would Be More Important Than The Afterlife. You can register for this class on REALM and the book can be purchased from Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Special Class Opportunity October 7, 10am United Methodism at the Crosroads: LGBTQ Inclusion in the future of our denomination. As many people know, the Special Conference called by the United Methodist Council of Bishops to consider the recommendations of the Commission on The Way Forward will be held in February of This class will provide information about the options that will be presented, and possible outcomes. There will be time for questions and answers and will be led by the pastors. Five Marks of a Methodist Adult Sunday School Class How can you tell if someone is a Methodist? No, this isn t a joke. John Wesley believed that a person could spot a Methodist based on these five characteristics. Join us Sundays 10am in the Chapel to learn what they are and how to live them out. October 14 - November 18. No book or signup required.

7 CARILLON PAGE 7 FAITH FORMATION (continued) Faith Dive Join us in this ongoing group at 10:00 Sunday mornings in the Logos Lounge (L1) where we discuss how Christian discipleship confronts and gives meaning to our place in this world and what is that world?! LIT CLUB Sunday October 28 7pm in the Logos Lounge All are welcome!
