WEDNESDAY MEAL Please indicate on the friendship sheet how many from your family will be joining us for the meal. The menu for this week is Verenika casserole, carrots and celery, and dessert. The suggested donation is $2.00 per person (children under 5 free). Bring your own table service. EXPLORING FORGIVENESS Is the title of the Adult Study for March and April. Recognizing that we hurt and are hurt by each other in small ways that affect our relationships at home, at work, and at church, how might practicing forgiveness help to build up and strengthen these relationships? On March 15, 2017, we will study Forgiveness and Forbearance. CARRY-IN MEAL NEXT SUNDAY The Bethel College girls softball team is staying on campus during spring break because of conference games. They will worship with us next Sunday and will join us for our carry-in meal. As you plan your dish to bring and share, please consider making a little extra for these additional guests. NOT SURE HOW TO WRITE TO YOUR LEGISLATORS? We will have a meeting on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, 7:00-7:00 pm, to help you! We will have resources, contact information, issues to write about, and helpful ideas on how to write an effective letter. Feel free to bring your laptop or tablet if that is your preferred manner of writing. 6 KIDS MAKE MEMORIES Special event to be held at the Kauffman Museum on March 16, 2017, 5:30-7:30 pm. Children (with their caregivers) receive free admission to the museum. Activities leaders will be available. KAUFFMAN MUSEUM SPRING GALA At the museum, Sunday, March 19, 5:30-9:00 pm, will feature live music, food, and a presentation by Gesine J, creator of the current special exhibit Memory Matters. Reservations and ticket purchase required. Call the museum at (316) TAIZE SERVICES OF EVENING SONG AND PRAYER Will meet Sunday, March 19, 2017, (the 3rd Sunday of the month), 6:00 pm, at St. Matthew s Episcopal Church. These service include scripture reading, spoken and sung prayers, periods of silence and opportunity for healing prayers. LIVING FAITHFULLY IN OUR COMMUNITIES Will be the theme of this year s Mennonite Women s Spring Supper, on March 23, 2017, 6:00 pm, at Bethel College. Cost is $12.00 at the door. So busy, that we are running very low on the following items: men's deodorant (minimum size 2.25 oz), men's briefs (white), size L or XL only, men's crew neck undershirts (white), size L or XL only, lotion (max. size 2 oz), bath towels (medium weight, dark colors), fingernail clippers, shampoo (13-24 oz). FAITH TALK John 7:53 8:11: Jesus refuses to cast stones Here are some ways to nurture faith at home based on this week s story. Preschool children have a For families section in the Early Childhood leaflet for the story Crowds welcome Jesus. 1) Read John 8:6 8. I wonder what Jesus wrote on the ground. 2) Imagine that your friend did something very hurtful to you. What words or actions could show that you forgive your friend? 3) Use white glue to write I forgive you on construction paper. Sprinkle sand over the message. Shake off the excess sand. Did you know? In the 1990s, a monolith (single, massive stone) estimated to weigh 1,242 tons was discovered in an ancient quarry in Baalbek, Lebanon.
