3 FAITH CHURCH FAMILY NEWS CHILDCARE Childcare is provided in the nursery during worship for children 3 and under. Yvonne and Wendell Banman are responsible today, next week, Margo Gaeddert and Deb Schmidt. FAITH MISSION CIRCLE All women are invited to the first Faith Mission Circle meeting of the year! We will be meeting September 14 at 7:15pm in Fellowship Hall. Berni Kaufman will be sharing about Sister Care in South America. Our offering will be for Mennonite Women USA, and the project is items for Community Playschool. This is one meeting you will not want to miss! Come, bring a friend, and enjoy an evening of learning and Christian fellowship! BOARD OF FELLOWSHIP COMING EVENTS Wednesday Meals begin this week (6:00 p.m.) with Janora in charge. The menu this week is Sloppy Joes, Chips, Veggies, and Dessert. The suggested donation is $2 per individual or $5 per family, and bring your table service. Please indicate on the friendship sheet how many from your family will be coming, and sign up on the sheet in the foyer indicating when you ll bring a dessert and help with cleanup. Bethel College Sunday is on Potluck Sunday, September 20. Everyone is encouraged to bring full picnic baskets to share with our guests (Bethel College Choir). All-Church Picnic at the Morrie and Shari Scheffler rural home is scheduled for Saturday, October 3. A flier with details will be available soon. PASTORAL SEARCH COMMITTEE The Church Council has affirmed these people to serve on the committee to search for an associate pastor: Nathan Garber, Shari Scheffler, Lorisa Stucky, Chuck Beth, Byron Ediger, Vicki Harder and Pastor Rachel. This committee and I will meet with Heidi Regier Kreider, WDC Conference Minister, in the near future to talk about the next steps in the search process. BEYOND FAITH CHURCH NEEDS FOR HOMELESS SHELTER EVENT The Harvey County Homeless Shelter is in need of 7 pop-up canopies for the New Hope Fall Festival on September 26th. MCC FLATLANDER BIKE RIDE The annual MCC Flatlander Bicycle Ride will be held on Sat., Sept. 19, originating at the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) offices, 121 East 30th Street, North Newton, Kansas. This year's ride will raise funds for an MCC water development project in Tanzania. Rides of approximately 35, 45, and 65 miles, as well as a shorter family ride, are planned. Everence will present an informational seminar, Retiring soon? Thank you for your faithful partnership to assist low income elderly or disabled homeowners with needed home repairs. Sometimes a project has problems unseen during an initial evaluation. These only become apparent after the repair work has begun. Those unexpected problems add to the cost to the project. This PBS documentary deals with the re-enslavement of black Americans from the Civil War to World War II. Talk-back session with Dr. Galyn Vesey to follow. ANNUAL MEETING ISN T JUST FOR THE OLD FOGEYS! The Annual Meeting on Sept. 20 at Camp Mennoscah has stuff for all ages--disc golf, a scavenger hunt, and bath house tours at 3:30pm. Do all those things and then stick around for a brief business meeting at 5pm followed by a simple meal. Everyone invited! Donations for the meal will be taken. WORK & PLAY CAMP IS A HOOT! This year we'll be registering folks on Sept. 20 at 3pm and then shooing you off to join Camp Mennoscah's Annual Meeting. Starting on Monday morning we'll be diving into projects of every size and shape, coffee breaks (and tea!), some devotions, and fun and games. Folks of all ages are invited to stay through Weds., Sept. 23, to build community, improve Camp Mennoscah, and bask in the prairielands.
