5 FAITH CHURCH FAMILY NEWS BOARD, COMMITTEE & REPRESENTATIVE REPORTS Are still needed. If you have not submitted your report to the church office yet, please do so tomorrow (12/11/17). ~ Thank you! ANGEL TREE Next Sunday (12/17/17) is the final day to return your gifts. Please remember: You are limited to three "gifts" per angel. You may include a small toy if you wish. Do not wrap gifts in boxes; please use a gift bag large enough to hold what you purchased plus tissue (just place the gift(s) in the bag unfolded). Do not complete "wrapping" them as the school social workers will check that all is accurate and then complete the "wrapping" and deliver the gifts. If you have questions, please ask Arlys S. NURSERY CARE HELP NEEDED In order to provide nursery care during worship services, more volunteers are needed. Interested persons are invited to contact Kathryn P. FAITH MENNONITE CHURCH AND EVERENCE Via the matching grants have contributed $6, to various charities in Newton and Harvey County for the year Thank you for your support. ~ Vernon P, Everence Advocate OUR ZUMBA INSTRUCTOR... Nicole B, has resigned as of the end of December. She will continue to teach at the Dance Center on Tuesday evenings and will begin to teach at the YMCA on Thursday evenings. At this time we have decided not to look for a replacement and take advantage of other opportunities in the community. We have appreciated your prayers, positive comments, and monetary support over the many years of holding these classes at Faith. If you have community outreach ideas the Board of Witness and Outreach would be interested in hearing from you. Let It Be!", a free guide for family worship from December 3, 2017-January 6, The guide will help you slow down with your children to ponder and prepare for what it means to receive Jesus. CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE OFFERING Will go to Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) for Hurricane Relief. If you are not able to attend the service but still want to contribute, please make sure to write MDS - Christmas Eve Offering on the memo line of your check. To be included, all checks must be received by Sunday, December 24, 2017.

Please bring us your clean, gently-used toys, shoes, jewelry, and children's coats. Your donated items might end up as cherished gifts under someone's Christmas tree! Support MCC Thrift Shops because you care about your family, your community, and beyond. Thank you! OLSON MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP HOLIDAY HOME TOUR... Is today (12/10/17). Four homes have been selected and NHS and other local musicians will participate. Alejandra M, from Faith Church, will perform with the NHS String Ensemble at the home of Eliza J and Ray B. Proceeds from donations help Newton high school students with the cost of private music lessons. Advance reservations for the tour can be made at Prairie Harvest. Congratulations to Alejandra M who is one of the recipients of the Olson Music Scholarship. BETHEL COLLEGE ALUMNI CHOIR Performs a short Christmas concert today (12/10/17), 3:00 pm. Trinity Heights United Methodist Church (Boyd & 12th St, Newton). Punch and cookie reception following concert. All are invited to attend. 32ND ANNUAL LIGHTING OF THE GREEN Is today (12/10/17), 8:00 pm. Bethel College Campus. All are invited to attend. SAFEHOPE Needs volunteers for their annual Angel Tree Gift Drive (separate from the one Faith Church is doing) December 11-15, Volunteers are needed to sort gifts and donations, as well as prepare basic need packages for the families. For questions, contact Christina S. RSVPs not needed; bring your family and friend during any of the times listed on the volunteer schedule posted on bulletin board in the church foyer. 7 THE SALVATION ARMY Needs help packing toys for children and their families for distribution. They are meeting on the second floor of the old Axtell Hospital. YOU RE INVITED To the annual MCC Christmas Soiree on Thursday, December 14, 2017, 5:00-7:00 pm (come and go event), at the MCC Center in North Newton (121 E 30th St, North Newton). The Midnight Hymn Sing is a collection of hymns performed and reimagined by a new generation of Mennonites from San Francisco. The Midnight Hymn Sing was made to call us all to come back around the piano, and to find something that speaks to our hearts in the 21st century. CD s are available at MCC in North Newton (121 E. 30th) for a suggested donation of $15/CD with all money going to support MCC s work with Syrian refugees.
