This is a great little daily devotional that is free if you re looking for a new resource! Pumpkin Patch Outing: The Pathfinders Sunday school class invites the church to join us at P and M Pumpkin Ranch ( th Ave. west of Moundridge) on Sunday, Oct. 29 from 3-7 pm. We have reserved a campfire spot again, and will provide hot dogs, sides, drinks and s mores. There are activities for all ages! Each person will receive a discounted admission price by mentioning First Mennonite when they enter. Our annual Mission Supper will be held Saturday, Nov. 11 from 5-7 pm. Proceeds will benefit Neighbors Store and our missionary partners, Dan & Kathryn Smith-Derksen and Juanita & Francisco Machado. Please sign-up to help on the sheets in the hallway.

2 The Stewardship committee has followed up on requests for new pew cushions. We have met with Katy Coy of Main Street Interiors to assist in selecting a style and fabric to match the décor. The fabric sample that was chosen will be on the table in the foyer. The bid we have received for back and seat cushions is $11, We will have a congregational vote after the Sunday service on November 5th. We will accept absentee ballots if you will not be present on that day. On a piece of paper write yes, if approved or no to disapprove, and give it to a Stewardship member (Leon Schmidt, Dwight Mueller, John Will, Pauline Regier, Jim Loflin, Dale Ortman, Alan Mueller). Donations are welcome and greatly appreciated. Please make checks payable to the church and designate Pew Cushions and place in the offering plate. 3 ANNOUNCEMENTS Thank you for all of the visits, birthday cards and well wishes. It was a very special day! Life is fantastic and difficult too. But Jesus created us for joy. He wants us to celebrate in Him and with Him. He wants us to let out a yell of delight. He is so good! The life He has given us is filled with sweetness. So Clap! Jump for Joy! Do a funky dance! Share a meal with friends! And know that in Him there are more wins, more joy, and more celebrations on the ways. Susan Foth Aughtmon Thank you all for your attendance and generosity for the Hog Roast! We had about 150 in attendance, the day was beautiful and the music uplifting. Praise God for the wonderful fellowship! Halstead First Mennonite Church will be presenting the 2017 Christmas Cantata "God With Us" at their Christmas Eve program at 7:00pm on December 24th. They are inviting anyone from the community or from churches in the community to join them in making this a celebratory community program. Practices are scheduled for the following Wednesday nights: November 1st, 15th, and 29th, and December 6th, 13th, and 20th. Our churches may be too small for individual choirs but could create some beautiful music if we all join together. If you are interested, please meet at First Mennonite Church at 4th and Santa Fe at 8:00pm Wednesday, November 1st. All students and interested parties that attended a rural school are invited, Sunday, October 29, from 12:30-2:30 pm. to come to our annual reunion at 122 E. 6th in Newton. Bring a dish to share and table service. Drinks will be provided. For more info call Beth VanNatta at Meat canned by Mennonite Central Committee is distributed to Ukraine, Ethiopia, and North Korea (among other countries) and in food pantries in the USA. You can participate at the MCC Center in North Newton Oct 31st, Nov 1 and 2 (Tuesday from noon until 9 pm; Wed and Thursday beginning at 6 am). Our church is also responsible to supply coffee cakes on Tuesday and supper for the 4 guys operating the canner on Wed. Sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board. Funds designated for meat canning can be placed in the church offering plate or given to Larry Regier. Think about the "tasty love" in the name of Christ you are sharing with those who do not have. 4 Bethel College: TODAY Lecture by Brad Born on Pat Barker s novel Regeneration, 3 p.m., Kauffman Museum. This talk is part of the programming around the museum s special exhibit Voices of Conscience: Peace Witness in the Great War. Born is professor of English at Bethel College, and the novel is set during World War I. Nov. 4 Kauffman Museum First-Saturday Bird Walk. Join experienced birders Gregg Friesen and Rod Wedel at 8 a.m. in the museum parking lot for a walk of 1 to 1.5 hours. Please be aware this is mostly on an unpaved trail and the terrain is sometimes sloping or steep. Nov. 4 Bethel College Wind Ensemble concert, featuring music by Morten Lauridsen, Derek Jenkins, Peter Meechan and William Schuman, 7:30 p.m., with special guests, composers Jenkins and Meechan and conductor Joseph Parisi; Memorial Hall. Nov. 5 Bethel College Sings, featuring the Women s Chorus and the Men s Ensemble, Woven and Open Road, the Concert Choir, and soloists, 3 p.m., Bethel College Mennonite Church. Here is a beginning tentative schedule: December 2-9: Remove all present equipment and fixtures in kitchen. Remove ceiling and all plumbing pipes and electric as needed. December 11: Have kitchen area ready for plumbing and electrical contractors. Further dates will be advertised as we progress.
