3 FAITH CHURCH FAMILY NEWS BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS Nurses will be in the Health Wellness Room immediately following worship today (12/03/17) to check blood pressures. Please stop by to have yours checked. CHRISTMAS DINNER Faith Mission Circle will host the annual Christmas dinner tomorrow (12/04/17), 6:30 pm, in the church Fellowship Hall. Max V will present his "Photographic Journeys" following the meal catered by Keith B. The project for December is items for Health Ministries. An offering will be taken for Mary R's support. PLEASE JOIN US For Popcorn In The Pit this Saturday, December 9, 2017, as we gather around a fire in the outside amphitheater at 7:00 pm, for a brief time of Christmas Caroling in the crisp air, then in the Fellowship Hall for popcorn, lemonade, and activities, including decorating and eating sugar cookies! Come early for supper of Frito-Chili Pies at 6:30 pm. No cost for this event. ANGEL TREE We have gathered "angel needs" from the four (4) elementary schools. This year, we will do something slightly different by limiting the "gifts" to three per angel. You may include a small toy if you wish. Instead of wrapping in boxes, please use a gift bag large enough to hold what you purchased plus tissue (just place the gift(s) in the bag unfolded). Do not complete "wrapping" them as the school social workers will check that all is accurate and then complete the "wrapping" and deliver the gifts. The gifts MUST be back to the church by Sunday, December 17, 2017, for delivery to the schools the morning of December 18, If you have questions, please ask Arlys S. NURSERY CARE HELP NEEDED In order to provide nursery care during worship services, more volunteers are needed. Interested persons are invited to contact Kathryn P. FAITH MENNONITE CHURCH AND EVERENCE Via the matching grants have contributed $6, to various charities in Newton and Harvey County for the year Thank you for your support. ~ Vernon P, Everence Advocate OUR ZUMBA INSTRUCTOR... Nicole B, has resigned as of the end of December. She will continue to teach at the Dance Center on Tuesday evenings and will begin to teach at the YMCA on Thursday evenings. At this time we have decided not to look for a replacement and take advantage of other opportunities in the community. We have appreciated your prayers, positive comments, and monetary support over the many years of holding these classes at Faith. NEWTON TREBLE CLEF ANNUAL VESPERS Is Sunday, December 3, 2017, 3:00 pm, at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church (1200 Boyd Ave, Newton). CAMP MENNOSCAH Is still seeking volunteers to help prepare the main camp kitchen for renovations this coming week, Monday-Saturday December 4-9, Both women and men are welcome to help and there will be a variety of tasks to complete. All work will be inside. Lodging and meals may be arranged for those wanting to stay at Camp. Carpooling may be available also. To volunteer, contact Jim Y or Camp Mennoscah. THE SALVATION ARMY Needs help packing toys for children and their families for distribution. They are meeting on the second floor of the old Axtell Hospital. 5 BETHEL COLLEGE MENNONITE CHURCH On Wednesday, December 6, 2017, 11:00 am, will host their annual sing-along to Christmas portions of Handel s Messiah, with the Bethel College Philharmonia and Student vocal soloists and conductors; scores will be provided. CHRISTMAS GALA JAZZ CONCERT Featuring the Bethel College Jazz Ensembles I and II (Ensemble I includes Jesu s M, Jr, from Faith Church), will be Friday, December 8, 2017, 8:00 pm, Krehbiel Auditorium in Luyken Fine Arts Center, Bethel College Campus. OLSON MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP HOLIDAY HOME TOUR... Will be on December 10, Four homes have been donated and NHS and other local musicians will participate. Alejandra M, from Faith Church, will perform with the NHS String Ensemble at the home of Eliza J and Ray B. Proceeds from donations help Newton high school students with the cost of private music lessons. Advance reservations for the tour can be made at Prairie Harvest.
