We remember the revitalizing mission which is the heart of our Chris an faith to bring the Gospel to all! The collec on ensures the work of our Missionary Church by suppor ng priests, religious, and lay leaders who offer the Lord s mercy and concrete help to vulnerable communi es. Thank you for your generosity. At its recent mee ng, the Parish Council approved a parish policy to guide the distribu on of funds in a newly created Charitable Giving Fund. This year the budget designates 2% of our Sunday giving to be placed in a fund to make charitable contribu ons for agencies and special needs in the name of our parish. Larger gi s will be made to our sister parish in El Si o, and our sister Diocese of Lodwar. Other contribu ons will go to local agencies like Open Doors (housing), the Gospel Mission, Loaves and Fishes, and Ministry with Community (the hungry and homeless), Right to Life, and Clean Water for the World. We will inform you periodically how that money is being distributed. Most recently a gi was made to St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Pondo, Kenya, for helping to put le flooring in their new church. A columbarium is a structure for the permanent storage of the ashes of deceased loved ones. The parish is going to consider whether to construct a columbarium on church property. I crea ng a small ad hoc commi ee to create a business plan for submission and considera on by the parish staff and the parish council. If you are interested, please contact me at frken@stcatherinesiena.com, or leave your contact informa on on my voice (269) Reflec ons on Personal Holiness by Pope Francis (3) Pope Francis repeats that the Lord directs the call to holiness personally to each of us: "Be holy, for I am holy." (Levi cus 11:44; cf. 1 Peter 1:16) A document from Va can Council II stated this clearly: " all the faithful, whatever their condi on or state, are called by the Lord each in his or her own way to that perfect holiness by which the Father himself is perfect." He underlines that we each do it in our own way, and do not simply copy someone else's behavior. He doesn't want us to be become discouraged that we're unable to do what someone else did; in fact, that could be a mistake and we would miss out on what "the Lord has in mind for us." We have to figure out our own path, using the very best of ourselves, and the par cular gi s God has given to us personally. (1 Corinthians 12:7) (para. 6, 7 in Gaudete et Exsultate) What are some ways of holiness that are par cularly your own.? Don't be shy!
