Among the greatest gifts God placed so wonderfully in each one of our souls------the gift of H O P E. Hope for the moment. Hope for the hour. Hope for the day. Hope for the season. I love Hope. I need Hope. I crave Hope. And not only for major league baseball teams----but for just about everything else in life. I look for H O P E in my work. I long for H O P E in the world. I pray for H O P E in relationships. I have sat at the corner of Michigan and Trumbellin the snow. I have seen my team, the Detroit Tigers, take the field! I stood and screamed with glee for my team! This is THE year! The Pennant is ours! World Series bound! Ohhhhsure they finished 22 games back last season--- but, no matter! I stood! I cheered! I believe You and I live each day---often feeling like we are 22 games out of first place. Life has disappointed us. We are anxious for the turmoil around us. Our job hangs by a thread of approval. Our family and marriage feels like it s on a losing streak. We wish we felt more positive. We long for days and experiences when H O P E will shine again! Well, just maybe----you need a home opener. The grass looks green again. Our team looks good. The uniforms are fresh and crisp. The smell of ball park franks is in the air. We stand proudly for the National Anthem. And we have H O P E again! Baseball is back! All seems right with the world! H O P E reigns eternal! H O P E is contagious. In all seriousness, perhaps it s not baseball. I would encourage you to find H O P E in regular worship. Bring new eyes and ears into the Lord s House on the weekend. Listen intently to the Word. Truly receive body and blood. Think the words you are speaking. Discover H O P E in prayer. Determine to begin your morning in prayer. Attend our Spring study on prayer there is H O P E with people who study God s Word. Take a spring walk--- pay attention to spring flowers, fresh air and let God s awesome creation announce H O P E to your soul. Or, just a hot dog with me at the ole ball park----let s share H O P E for a new season! On Easter evening, Jesus marched through the doors, proclaimed Peace be with you. The grass was green again. The Church felt alive again. H O P E was alive! Jesus is alive! We will WIN again! Pastor Matt
