After writing it, I thought that maybe this might be a message we all need to hear. Dear Student, I hope this letter finds you in both spiritual and academic wellness. What a blessing it is that you have the ability to go to college! It s such an amazing opportunity that I hope you are thankful for. As a student, you have been given this profound moment in time that many others never get. Please be thankful. Our country right now desperately needs bright minds and loving hearts to help make it a better place for all. You must become the change for the goodness you want to see in your lives and in the lives of others. It costs nothing to be kind to people whether we agree or disagree with them. When I look and see all the divisiveness between our fellow humans I admit exteriorly it can seem bleak, but within each of our minds and hearts, we have the ability to see all people in the image and likeness of God. I would challenge you to use this valuable time to grow in being kind to all people. And start by being kind to yourself. Lastly, smile. Every morning when you get up look in the mirror and smile. Smile because God and your parents infinitely love you. Smile because other people need to see it. Smile because you are thankful for all that you have. Smile because it shows kindness to all the people you encounter who need and long to see a kind, thankful, and genuine smile on a beautiful person. I wish you all of our good God s blessings for a semester where you love yourself and others to the fullest of your potential. Be thankful. Be kind. Smile. God Bless, Fr. Presented by: best selling author Anthony Pothoulakis, M.D. The obesity-diabetes-artery disease epidemic concerns all of us. More than 80 percent of American adults are suffering from one or more of these conditions, and only about 3 percent of us have both a perfect weight and lifestyle; the rest of us need help. In spite of intense efforts, the epidemic continues to spread at an alarming pace, not only in the US but globally as well. The health and economic effects of the epidemic are a serious burden to society, whiles it is the social institutions of the workplace and school that set us up to develop these conditions. Arteries in Harmony will educate you about the concepts of belly fat, insulin, and fatty liver, as well as; help you understand the dangers of prolonged sitting and added sugars. In additions it will help you take preventative measures to combat high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attacks, and stokes. Arteries in Harmony will explain in detail: What you can do (by yourself and working with your doctor, dietitian, or personal trainer) to improve your metabolism, treat your arteries kindly, and protect your health and the health of your loved ones. What are the social and economic effects of the epidemic? How the entire community must change to establish healthier workplaces, schools, and a healthier overall social environment in order to collaborate and eventually defeat this epidemic. Anthony Pothoulakis, M.D. Born in Crete, Greece, in 1960 Dr. Anthony Pothoulakis studied medicine, mathematics, and philosophy. He worked as a physician in England, the U.S., and Greece. He completed his residency in internal medicine in Dayton, Ohio and a fellowship in cardiology in Toledo, Ohio. He has practiced as an interventional cardiologist, as an internist, and as an emergency room physician. He collaborated with Mr. Demosthenous to write, Abdobesity, his first book on prevention. He now practices as a clinical cardiologist in Atlanta, Georgia, where he lives with his wife and son. His other interests include music (Anthony holds a degree in theory and harmony) and tennis. $75 per person $30 dance only Children 12 and under free Cocktails: 6 8 pm Dinner: 7 9 pm Dance 9 12 am Semi-formal attire THIRD ANNUAL ANNUNCIATION COMMUNITY FAMILY EVENT Live Greek Music By STIGMA Featuring: Dina Mantis (apo Karditsa) along with a mix of American hits Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Hall 500 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, OH All inclusive Package (open bar) Appetizers, dinner, Greek desserts, all liquor and wine Cigar and Scotch bar available No dinner tickets will be sold at the door For more information contact Nick Zois
