All Are Welcome! Parish Membership: We welcome all who wish to join our parish. Please contact the parish office at your earliest convenience. We would like to meet with you and see that your presence in the parish is properly acknowledged and registered. We also would like to remind parishioners to notify the office of changes of address and/or telephone number. Christian Initiation Process: This is a process by which believers become members of the Roman Catholic Church. This journey in faith is concerned with the total formation of the person into believing, living, praying and serving with the Church community. This gradual development climaxes in the celebration of Initiation at Eastertime. Our Inquiry Period is ongoing. For more information, contact the office. Stewardship God has entrusted us with many gifts: Time, Talent & Treasure. We hope and pray that all members will share their giftedness, to continue to share the Good News of Jesus with all people and build up the Body in Love. Worship Saturday: 5:00pm Sunday: 7:30am, 9:00am, 11:00am Daily (Mon., Wed., Thur., Fri.): 9:00am Baptism: This first of the Sacraments of Initiation is a significant part of the person, the family and the parish community. For this reason, we encourage the celebration in a community setting. Two options are offered monthly: 11:00am on the Second Sunday 12:00pm on the Fourth Sunday Baptismal Preparation Classes: The parish provides a Baptism Preparation Program for expectant parents. Godparents are welcome to attend, though it is not required. If you are expecting a child, please call to register for this program. Classes are held on the 2nd Tuesday of February, May, August, and November at 6:30pm in the Rectory. Reconciliation: The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated weekly every Saturday at 4:00 to 4:30 PM, or anytime upon request and also in a fuller form seasonally throughout the year. Marriage: In order to properly prepare for marriage, it is expected that the couple contact the pastor to arrange for an appointment prior to making other arrangements. This must be done at least six months prior to the desired date of marriage. One or both individuals should be members of the Parish for at least one year before marriage at St. Therese s. Word Catholic Schools: The parish community supports Catholic education in the Dioceses of Scranton. Families are encouraged to take advantage of these fine educational and formational institutions. Religious Education Program: Grades 1-6: 4:30 to 5:45pm Mon. & 5:45 to 7:00pm Tues. Summer Session Events: 10/13/18, 12/1/18, 2/9/19, 4/20/19 Family/At Home Program: 9/29/18, 11/3/18, 12/15/18, 3/16/19, 4/27/19 Summer Session: July 8-19, 2019 Pre-School/K Classes: 11am Sunday Grades 7 & 8: 5:45-7:00pm Tuesday 6:45-8:00pm Wednesday Service Hospitals/Nursing Homes and Anointing of the Sick: Please notify the office if your loved one is in a hospital, nursing home or confined to the home. First Friday Calls: Each month, those unable to participate in Mass because of health or age are visited. Our Ministers of Holy Communion are available to bring Communion every Sunday to those confined to their homes. 2 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time September 30, 2018 Parish "Feast Day" Opportunities to Celebrate and Share In honor of the Feast of our Patroness, St. Therese: A special Feast Day Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 1, at 9AM. Participants will be blessed with a First Class Relic of St. Therese and receive a blessed Rose in her honor. Tour of the Church and fellowship on October 1 at 6:30PM. Please join us as we celebrate the life and ministry of one of the Church's greatest Saints, our beloved Therese. Wean yourself off disposable plastics. Ninety percent of the plastic items in our daily lives are used once and then chucked: grocery bags, plastic wrap, disposable cutlery, straws, coffee cup lids. Take note of how often you rely on these products and replace them with reusable versions. Did You Know? There is a Preschool Kindergarten Program available in the Church hall during the 11:00 Mass each weekend. Please contact Denise Williams to register your child at (570) ext. 29. And what are those three jars in the cabinet near the baptismal font? In observance of the Feast of Saint Therese, Father Jim will host a tour of our magnificent Church on Monday, October 1, at 6:30 P.M. A social will follow in Father Sammons Hall. All are welcome as we discuss the rich symbolism that permeates our Church building... from the Mosaics and Stations of the Cross to the Vestments and Vessels used at Mass. THANKSGIVING PANTRY PROJECT 2018 Each year St. Therese s Social Justice Committee coordinates the collection of local grocery store gift cards which will then be given out to needy families. Pumpkins with the name of a local market will be available on a cornstalk in the vestibule of the church on the weekend of October 13/14. Pick a pumpkin, purchase a gift card in the amount of your choice. PLEASE MARK THE AMOUNT ON THE CARD and return in the collection basket on the weekends of Oct. 27/28 & Nov. 3/4. If the Pumpkins are all gone, you may purchase a gift card at your favorite grocery store and return it in the basket or to the rectory office. These cards will be distributed to local families in need to help with their Holiday meals and throughout the year as well. BAPTISMAL PREPARATION: The next Baptis- mal Preparation Class for expectant parents will be held on Tuesday, November 6, at 6:30PM in the rectory basement. Most parents prefer to attend this mandatory session prior to the birth of their child. Please call the rectory office to register. BOTTLES FOR BABIES The sanctity of every human life from conception to natural death is our common heritage, the foundation stone of justice. In the words of John XXIII, the task of every public authority is to safeguard the inviolable rights of the human person, beginning with life itself. Peace begins with justice. Justice is grounded in the sanctity of each and every human life. In conjunction with Respect Life Sunday, the Bottles for Babies campaign will begin on October 7th.
