All Are Welcome! Parish Membership: We welcome all who wish to join our parish. Please contact the parish office at your earliest convenience. We would like to meet with you and see that your presence in the parish is properly acknowledged and registered. We also would like to remind parishioners to notify the office of changes of address and/or telephone number. Christian Initiation Process: This is a process by which believers become members of the Roman Catholic Church. This journey in faith is concerned with the total formation of the person into believing, living, praying and serving with the Church community. This gradual development climaxes in the celebration of Initiation at Eastertime. Our Inquiry Period is ongoing. For more information, contact the office. Stewardship God has entrusted us with many gifts: Time, Talent & Treasure. We hope and pray that all members will share their giftedness, to continue to share the Good News of Jesus with all people and build up the Body in Love. Worship Saturday: 5:00pm Sunday: 7:30am, 9:00am, 11:00am Daily (Mon., Wed., Thur., Fri.): 9:00am Baptism: This first of the Sacraments of Initiation is a significant part of the person, the family and the parish community. For this reason, we encourage the celebration in a community setting. Two options are offered monthly: 11:00am on the Second Sunday 12:00pm on the Fourth Sunday Baptismal Preparation Classes: The parish provides a Baptism Preparation Program for expectant parents. Godparents are welcome to attend, though it is not required. If you are expecting a child, please call to register for this program. Classes are held on the 2nd Tuesday of February, May, August, and November at 6:30pm in the Rectory. Reconciliation: The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated weekly every Saturday at 4:00 (NEW TIME) to 4:30 PM, or anytime upon request and also in a fuller form seasonally throughout the year. Marriage: In order to properly prepare for marriage, it is expected that the couple contact the pastor to arrange for an appointment prior to making other arrangements. This must be done at least six months prior to the desired date of marriage. One or both individuals should be members of the Parish for at least one year before marriage at St. Therese s. Word Catholic Schools: The parish community supports Catholic education in the Dioceses of Scranton. Families are encouraged to take advantage of these fine educational and formational institutions. Religious Education Program: Grades 1-6: 4:30 to 5:45pm Mon. & 5:45 to 7:00pm Tues. Summer Session Events: 10/21/17, 12/9/17, 2/10/18, 4/14/18 Family/At Home Program: 9/30/17, 11/4/17, 1/6/18, 3/24/18, 5/12/18 Summer Session: July 9-20, 2018 Pre-School/K Classes: 11am Sunday Grades 7 & 8: 5:45-7:00pm Tuesday 6:45-8:00pm Wednesday Service Hospitals/Nursing Homes and Anointing of the Sick: Please notify the office if your loved one is in a hospital, nursing home or confined to the home. First Friday Calls: Each month, those unable to participate in Mass because of health or age are visited. Our Ministers of Holy Communion are available to bring Communion every Sunday to those confined to their homes. 2 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time September 17, 2017 Little Sisters of the Poor We are honored and privileged to welcome the Little Sisters of the Poor to our parish next weekend. The Sisters, who tend to the physical and spiritual needs of the poor and elderly, will be soliciting your support of their important and much needed ministry. FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS 100th Year Anniversary of Fatima Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, October 7 St. Frances Cabrini, Wyoming The First Saturday Devotion was requested by the Virgin Mary in an apparition to Lucia of Fatima at Pontevedra, Spain, in December The faithful are encouraged to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Holy Communion, as well as pray the Rosary, in order to receive the full benefit of this Devotion. Strengthening our commitment to social justice and to those in need. Your gifts to the Diocesan Annual Appeal enables us to serve the poorest, the weakest and the most vulnerable among us through the ministries of the Catholic Social Services that feed the hungry, clothe the naked and provide shelter, counseling and assistance for those most in need. Many more individuals in parish communities receive assistance through parish-based Social Justice Programs funded by the Appeal. Diocesan Grants were awarded to 45 parish programs this year including food and clothing patries, monthly dinners for families in need and outreach to prison inmates.

3 Blessing of Animals Sunday, October 8 at 12:30 PM In honor of the feast of St. Francis, families are invited to bring their pets to be blessed in the new parking lot. Pets of every species, shape, color and size are welcome! Weekend Retreat for 6th, 7th & 8th Graders September 29 October 1, 2017 The Up & Over Retreat is a weekend of fun, friendship, and faith at the beautiful wooded Camp Orchard Hill in Dallas. You will spend time outdoors, meet new friends and learn how your God-given gifts can be used when you work with others as a team! Built into the weekend are opportunities to deepen your faith through mass & reflective prayer experiences. There will also be a number of fun activities and events, including a movie, free time and an outdoor obstacle course. Come and join us for an outstanding experience! Registration includes cabin lodging, delicious home cooked meals, a t-shirt & unforgettable memories! A VOCATION STORY Did you know that nearly half of the 10, 000 individuals discerning a vocation each year are prevented from pursuing their call because of outstanding educational loans? Caitlin Cromley, a 2015 Misercordia University Graduate and now candidate with the Capuchin Sisters of Nazareth will be visiting St. Therese s Parish the weekend of our Patron s Feast Day, Sept. 31 and Oct. 1, to speak at all of the Masses about her vocational journey and the impact of student loans on vocations nationwide and to ask for your help. 4 Neighborhood News Adult Faith Formation: Father Leo Mc Kernan, Pastor of St. Ignatius in Kingston, will host a Scripture study on The Acts of the Apostles. All sessions will be held in Conlan Hall (basement) beginning at 6:30pm on Tuesday, September 19, and continuing through November 21. Participants are asked to bring a Bible. There is no admission fee and no commitment to attend all 10 sessions. Copies will be available in the vestibule. A "Celebration of Ministry" will be held on Friday, September 29, in appreciation for all those who serve in a ministry. A special Vocation Talk/Appeal and blessing with a First Class Relic of St. Therese will take place at all masses on the weekend of our Parish Feast Day, September 30 and October 1. Special prayer cards to St. Therese will be available at the entrances of the Church. Please join us as we celebrate the life and ministry of one of the Church's greatest Saints, our beloved Therese.
