The 4th Annual Catholic Men's Conference will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Kings College, Scandlon Physical Education Center, 149 North Main Street in Wilkes Barre. Experience a day focused on the Real Presence of Jesus, featuring presentations by Marian Father Michael Gaitley, Tom Peterson, and Jesse Romero. There will be opportunities for reconciliation, Eucharistic Adoration, and a closing mass with Bishop Bambera. PENNY WARS FOR THE POOR: A great big Thank You goes out to all who donated their pennies and those who donated their time to help roll them. A total of $1, in pennies was collected. All proceeds go to the Commission on Economic Opportunity, to assist struggling, single parent families and the disadvantaged elderly in our local communities. BAPTISMAL PREPARATION: The next Baptismal Preparation Class for expectant parents will be held on Tuesday, May 8th, at 6:30 pm in the Rectory Meeting Room. Most parents prefer to attend this mandatory session prior to the birth of their child. Topics do not build on each other. Therefore, you do not need to attend every month to benefit and you do not need to commit to all 10 dates. Next session: Saturday, April 28. Dates start at 6:00 pm in Father Sammons Hall. The night begins with a 15 minute DVD, before you leave for your personal date. Date ideas include dinner, taking a walk, taking a drive, etc. Anything that will allow discussion time with each other. Ministers of Communion, Lectors & Altar Servers: A new liturgical schedule for the months of MAY to AUGUST 2018 is ready and can be viewed and printed from our church web site at under schedules or, for those without access to a computer, a paper copy can be found in the church sacristy. Also there are phone lists and mass preferences for finding substitute ministers in the sacristies. Thank you.

Please franciszelinka@gmail.com First Holy Communion Masses This year we are honored to have 44 children receiving First Holy Communion on the weekend of May 5th and 6th. A number of children will receive Jesus for the first time on Saturday, May 5th, at 12 noon. The others will receive on Sunday, May 6th, at the 9:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. mass. Since this is a relatively small class, parishioners are welcomed and encouraged to attend the 9 A.M. or 11 A.M. mass on Sunday morning to experience this special event in the life of our parish. Please note that the 5:00pm Saturday mass and the 7:30am Sunday mass will be as usual. There will be plenty of room for our parishioners and guests at these two services. Eucharistic Wine: In Memoriam The altar wine blessed at our weekend liturgies is being offered as a memoriam for a loved one. If you are interested in memorializing a family member or friend who has passed away, please call the rectory for information and details. 4 APRIL IS NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH!! DID YOU KNOW? There is no statute of limitations for removing a priest or deacon who has sexually abused a minor from public ministry in the Catholic Church. A cleric against whom there is an established or admitted act of child sexual abuse is permanently removed from the priesthood, regardless of when the abuse occurred. Congratulations to the following youth who have been selected to receive the Bishop s Youth Lay Ministry Award by our parish. The award is a recognition of involvement in ministry and life of service to the Church. Look for the poster in the vestibule of the church this weekend and put your name and phone number on the item you will donate. Items needed will be entrées, side dishes, salads, breads or rolls, desserts and drinks. You will then be contacted by a member of the Social Justice Committee to confirm your selection. Prepared food can be dropped off at 5 pm in the church parking lot (elevator side). Members of the committee will deliver the meals to Ruth s Place.
