1 Dear Students, Families and Staff, As we approach the end of Term the children s learning is reaching very high levels of engagement and quality. Book Week has been a great celebration of the precious skill of reading. My mum taught me that if you have a book you are never alone! It has been my pleasure to hear a variety of our children read to me during the day, each day. We are blessed to have such a dedicated and professional librarian in Sarah Michalak and her Assistant Angela who bring our Literacy to life. We are planning the construction of a new state-of-the-art Library and suite of innovative learning spaces in an off-the-grid ecologically sustainable building. It is shown in the 3D image below in a teal blue colour which looks a bit like a grand piano. The previous temporary Library will eventually be relocated down next to the Fish Farm shed, shown below in 3D in the bright blue colour. In fact, the Library has been relocated this week to the smaller red building shown in 3D below. The former temporary Library will now house Yr 5 Pearce/Higgs/Nunez-Scalzi and elements of the Multi-Disciplinary Fish Farm/Aquaponics Centre. Yr 4 Giannakakis has been relocated to the northern end of the beige building shown in 3D below. We are in discussions with the City of Salisbury about relocating the proposed new courts on the oval shown below in 3D as grey to Grevillia Park at the rear of the school for joint school/community use. The Early Learning Centre is well under construction and is shown in 3D below in purple and is planned to be open in Term 4 to cater for children aged 3-4 years (80 children at any one time). THE VISION AND FUTURE PLAN FOR HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC SCHOOL
2 Our Multi-Disciplinary Learning Area (MUDLA)- Fish Farm and Aquaponics An example of the type of study undertaken in our Fish Farm Resolution of issues involving students with other students From time to time, issues arise involving interrelationships with students in the school. The best way to address these issues is to inform myself or Mr Slater. We will address these issues in consultation with the relevant authorities. We will work these issues with you until we reach resolution. Trust us. We are a large and diverse community, and there will be times when tensions and concerns arise. Responding to any such concerns must be dome with respect and in ways that do not make any individual feel unsafe. Our community expects all adults to respond and act appropriately when raising such matters, and in supporting their resolution. In response to concerns or issues that arise, please do not: Make any threat to any member of staff, student or member of any other family. Approach any student other than your own child Approach any other parent Engage in any gossip based on hear-say as you cannot be sure of the facts presented to you. Do not let someone else make their problem your problem. Make any attempt to supervise or engage in surveillance of students in the yard or the playground. In circumstances where threatening or intimidating behaviours occur they will be passed on immediately to the SAPOL Community Liaison Officer for action and advice. Our School Values are: Positive Emotion Trust Support I look forward to working with you now and in the future to ensure the safety and happiness of all of our students and families. 9 FROM THE APRIM Feast of Saint Bernard On Monday was the feast of Saint Bernard. He was born on August 20th, 1090 in France. Bernard was born into a wealthy family. At age 22 he decided to join the Benedictine monks who lived a strict life of prayer, silence and penance. I believe Saint Bernard had many special qualities that we could aspire to support in our own lives today. Simplicity-Bernard lived a life of simple meals, prayer and little sleep. Compassion- When he became sick he became more understanding of human needs and began to help others. Peacemaker- Because of his ability to settle disputes he was called on to travel to various countries to give his advice on Church and government affairs. Passionate- He was fearless in giving his opinion and highly respected for his insight into problems. He was an inspiring speaker and writer on the love of God, Mary, Scripture and leading a spiritual life. He died in 1153 he was a Doctor of the Church and patron saint of beekeepers, candle makers and Gibraltar. He was canonized a saint in Morning Prayer, Liturgy & Mass Morning Prayer,2SB, Monday August 27 th 9am Liturgy, Thursday, 6/7 MS, August 30 st 9am Mass 4BH, E & RG, Thursday, August 30th Centre Michael Urdanoff HFCS APRIM

The Word of God has taken an important place in the life of the faithful of all time.. In the complex and confusing situations of our world today, we need the Word to show us the right way of life. Biblical witness: The psalmist declared: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path (119:105) Prophet Jeremiah: When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart s delight (Jer 15:16) Pope Francis also repeated in His Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium (Joy of the Gospel) after the Synod on the Word of God: God s word, listened to and celebrated, above all in the Eucharist, nourishes and inwardly strengthens Christians, enabling them to offer an authentic witness to the Gospel in daily life (174) Inspiration for people of all time. The famous Mahatma Gandhi- a Hindu, wrote in his autobiography, that during his student days he read the Gospels seriously and considered converting to Christianity. He believed that in the teachings of Jesus he could find the solution to the caste system that was dividing the people of India. The Bible: a book or a library? There are 46 sacred books of the Old Testament, and 27 of the New. The central part of these books is the Gospels, for they speak to us of His Son. These sacred books contain what He willed us to have for our salvation. The Bible was the first book ever put to the printing press- a Latin language Bible, printed in Mainz, Germany. (1450). The man who printed it, Johannes Gutenberg, was recently voted the most important man to have ever lived within the past 1000 years! A quote: I have examined all religions, and the result is that the Bible is the best book in the world. John Adams President of United States of America For our reflection. "Whoever hears my Words and puts them into practice," says Jesus, "is like a wise man who built his house on rock" (Matthew 7:24). (To be continued) Fr Francis

Siamo chiamati a convertirci. S.
