You may hear in conversations with children or in Liturgies and Eucharist celebrations of the term Trinity, Holy Trinity or Blessed Trinity. On Trinity Sunday, many Christians around the world remember and honour the belief of an eternal God, consisting of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Many churches have special prayers on Trinity Sunday. The prayers of the Eucharistic celebration are focused on Christian growth and discipleship after a long period of emphasis on the life and ministry of Jesus. Background to Trinity Sunday: Trinity Sunday was instituted in the year 828 by Pope Gregory IX. It is the only major Christian festival that celebrates a doctrine of the church rather than an event in its sacred history. It is dedicated to the Christian belief in the Trinity Father, Son and Holy Spirit and falls on the Sunday following Pentecost each year. In pre-revolutionary Russia, Trinity Sunday was a grand celebration. Churches and homes were decorated with wreaths, fresh flowers, grass and saplings. It was a time of weddings, and young unwed women would sometimes toss fresh wreaths during the next year. If a wreath floated, the woman was destined to marry. If it sank, she would remain unwed. With the coming of communism came the belief that holidays were a way of exploiting the masses and preventing productivity. This particular holiday was turned into a working day. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen We can gain much comfort and peace knowing that the love of God lives within us and around us. The love of God takes care of us. God has loved us from the moment of our creation and will continue to forever. When we believe that God is integral to our lives, we can live in complete peace, hope and love. 2 Administration School Fees for Term 2 are now overdue. Prompt payment is appreciated. After School Concerns This week, a couple of dangerous incidents have occurred when students were walking from the Upper Campus to the Lower Campus after school. This creates WHS & Students Protection concerns. All walkers are now required to assemble at the Palmerin Street entrance and wait for the teacher on duty to dismiss this whole group. Any further behaviour concerns with this group will be reported to the parents and parents may then be asked to collect the child from the Upper Campus. All walkers must proceed to the entrance of the Lower Campus and then meet parents for collection. No child from any class should be in the carpark without direct adult supervision. Please speak to your children about these urgent safety concerns. Collection of Students This is a reminder, that no parent should collect another child after school unless prior arrangements have been made with the parent and then the school has been informed of this arrangement. Library News Not our books We have a few books at the Lower Campus Library that have been returned to our library by mistake. If you are missing some books from home, please call in to collect. I just want to go home Bookclub delivered by Friday Bookclub is already back. Any orders should be delivered to your child by Friday. There are a couple of things on backorder but it only affects a few orders. It will be given to your child as soon as it is supplied to us. Thank you for your understanding. Once again, thank you to those who may have purchased books from Bookclub. Our school library benefits in a small way from any books bought via a type of commission.

Good readers ask and answer questions that clarify meaning and promote deeper understanding of the text: Questions What did you like? What is the main idea of the text? What type of information is this? What new information have you learned? Is there a lesson in this information? Orders must be lodged before 7.30am. Monday, 19 June: Tuckshop can be purchased from Hamilton Oval if required. Do not use our online ordering system on this day.

4 ST MARY S ATHLETICS CARNIVAL St Mary s Athletics Carnival will be held over 3 days to allow full participation by all eligible students. We have also needed to take into consideration the building works being carried out at Hamilton Oval. Friday, 16 June: Monday, 19 June: Monday, 24 July: High jump & shot put will be held at the Upper Campus grounds. Sprints, relays, discus, long jump, 800m and novelty events will be held at Hamilton Oval, Warwick State High School. Ball Games competition at Upper Campus. On Friday, June 16, high jump and shot put for students born will be held at the Upper Campus grounds. We believe it is important for all children to have the opportunity for full participation. On Monday, June 19, sprints & relays will be held for all students. Discus, long jump, 200m finals and 800m will be held for students born Students born in 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012 will also be involved in events such as modified long jump, beanbag throwing, sack races and egg & spoon races. On Wednesday, June 14, students born will travel by bus to Hamilton Oval to run in heats for 200m events. From these timed heats, the fastest 9 runners will compete in the 200m finals on Monday, 19 June. Important Dates and Times Friday, June 16: Upper Campus grounds - 9:00am 1:45pm. High jump, and shot put for students born Due to limited seating at the Upper Campus, parents may wish to bring a fold-up chair with them. Monday, June 19: Hamilton Oval 8.30am 2.00pm Sprints, relays for all students Novelty events for students born m finals, discus, long jump, 800m events, students born PLEASE NOTE: On Friday, 16 June, all students will report to school at the normal time i.e. by 8:35 am. Year 3 students born in 2008, will be walked to the Upper Campus for high jump, and shot put. On Monday, 19 June all children from Prep Year 6 are to go directly to Hamilton Oval by 8:30am for the program to commence at 9:00am. It is anticipated that families will remain for the Presentation of Trophies at the conclusion of the program. We expect the program, including presentations, will conclude by 2.00pm. Parents will be permitted to take their child/children from the grounds at the conclusion of carnival. Your child s name must be checked off on a list with the teacher in charge of their group before you take your child home from the grounds. Students who have not been collected by parents/caregivers at this time will be returned to school by bus. Normal collection arrangements from the school grounds will then be adhered to. Arrangements must be made by parents if a child normally attends an After School program.

5 Notices ASSUMPTION COLLEGE ENROLMENTS FOR YEAR Assumption College vacancies for Year 7 in 2018 are filling quickly please note that enrolment for St Marys students into Assumption College is not automatic, and if there are any families considering the College for their children, please return your enrolment applications as soon as possible to Assumption College office. Warwick's Got Talent We have a lot of talented children in our school and I d like to make everyone aware of a talent quest being held in Warwick. It is called "Warwick's Got Talent" and I am sure we have children who could be a successful part of this. There is a primary school section which would be suited to our students. They can win a prize for 1st, 2nd or 3rd and their act can be literally anything (along the lines of the TV show "Australia's Got Talent). For any older siblings there is a high school and an open section also. The event will be held at St Mary's Hall on Saturday August 12 with auditions being held on 8 July.
