Religious Education There will be no Religious Education Classes on Easter Sunday. We will resume April 23 rd. Stephen Ministry Reflections from Deacon Mike Stratman Determined "When the days of His exodus were fulfilled, He resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem" (Luke 9:51) During a television news report on the plight of refugees displaced from a war torn country, the news reporter interviewed a 10 year old girl. Despite there being little possibility of returning to their home, she showed a determined spirit; "When we go back, I'm going to visit my neighbors; I'm going to play with my friends. My father says we don't have a house and I said we are going to fix it!" There is a place for tenacity in our life, especially when it is rooted in our faith in God and love for others. Stubbornness is sometimes rooted in pride, but commitment grows from love. Jesus was determined to go to Jerusalem to take up His cross and die for our sins out of His love for us. As we begin to observe the holiest of holy weeks beginning with Palm Sunday, may we take up our cross and follow in the footsteps of Jesus from the love we have for Jesus, which leads us to eternal life! Youth Ministry Corner Youth Group and Confirmation Happy Spring Break!! Youth Group and Confirmation will be on Sunday, April 9 th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in the Family Life Center at St. Pat s. We will be watching The Passion of Christ. Please watch your s for the printable waiver. 8 th Grade Class of 2017 You re starting high school in the fall and it seems early to be thinking about Youth Group BUT all of our programs this summer are open to you! Come get a taste of Youth Group on April 23 rd from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in the Family Life Center at St. Pat s! We ll have pizza, games, prayer, and a chance for you to ask all those questions about high school you really want to know!! Oklahoma City Mission Trip There is one spot left on our summer mission trip! Students who will have finished 8 th grade and up-if you are interested in coming, NOW is the time to act! This is a phenomenal opportunity to learn about another culture, serve those in need, meet other young Catholics from around the country, experience a taco Tuesday like never before, add a few extra rollercoasters to your repertoire, and form close bonds with those in youth group with you!! Save the Date April 25, 26 and 27 or April 28 and 29 The Deanery Outreach Commission with the sponsorship of the Vigo County Emergency Management Agency will be conducting Search and Rescue in Community Disasters Course Have you ever wondered how to develop a mindset to prepare, act, and survive in a disaster? The course is designed to provide training for community members to safely conduct search and light rescue response to aid their family and neighbors in the immediate aftermath of a natural catastrophe, technological accident, or humancaused incidents. The course is intended for members of the whole community and draws on information and lessons learned from a variety of disaster incidents such as hurricanes, tornados, and man-made events. Hands-on training is used to demonstrate best practices for effective search and light rescue which can be used in both residential and commercial environments. Participants also learn strategies to rescue and care for themselves, their families, and their pets in the immediate aftermath of an event.
