4 St. Margaret Mary 2018 Craft Fair Vendor Application The annual St. Margaret Mary Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, November 17 th from 8:00am to 3:00pm and Sunday, November 18 th from 8:00am to 1:00pm. St. Margaret Mary Church is located at 2405 South 7 th Street, on the corner of 7 th & Voorhees. The craft Fair will be held in the Legacy Room located in the Dede Center. Entry is through the double doors located on the east side of the building. There is also a handicap accessible lift located on the south side of building. Tables measure 8 feet in length and are available for $30.00 per table (first come, first served). 5 Working For God-Ephesians 6: 6-9 There is a story told about Sir Christopher Wren who was commissioned in the 1660's to redesign St. Paul's Cathedral in London. According to legend, one day he visited the construction site, but was not recognized by the workers. Wren walked through the site asking several of the men what they were doing. One worker replied, I am cutting a piece of stone. The second worker said, I am earning 5 shillings and 2 pence a day. The third worker, however, had a different perspective; I am helping Christopher Wren build a magnificent cathedral to the glory of God. What a difference in the attitude and motivation of that worker than the other two. Why we do what we do is extremely important, especially when it comes to our working lives and careers. Paul challenged the Ephesians to do their work by doing the will of God from the heart, willingly serving the Lord and not human beings. If we do our work merely to earn a paycheck or satisfy a supervisor, we will not be a happy and loyal employee. If we look at the big picture, we will know that God has placed us where we are for a reason. We don't want to fall short of our highest motivation and that is doing our best as a devotion to God. No matter who signs your paycheck, you are really working for the Lord. So, why do we work?? As the worker told Wren, to the glory of God. May we always be a Happy Worker!!! This informative brochure is intended to communicate the financial needs of our parish and why we are having a dedicated focus on our parish offertory. Commitment Sunday for this Program is September 15 and September 16. We encourage all parishioners to spend time in prayer and discussion with your family reflecting on the parish s needs and your current level of giving. Dan Jerry s Information Corner St. Margaret Mary Parish FINAL DAY OF THE YARD SALE is this Monday, 9 am noon. Bargains galore! Stuff all you can get into a bag and pay $2! Thanks to all volunteers who helped with pricing and manning the sale. This is always a monumental effort that began 3 months ago. A final report of the total profit will be coming in next week s bulletin. STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE will meet this Thursday, September 6, 5:30 pm in the Legacy Room. This is an important meeting as we will be preparing the parish survey that will take place after the Masses on September 8 & 9. OUR ANNUAL PARISH STEWARDSHIP COMMITMENT SUNDAY is September 15 & 16. This week you will be receiving in the mail a Time and Talent brochure. Fr. Dan and the staff invite you to prayerfully look over the brochure and consider signing up to participate in the many ministries that are available. Last year the brochure did not include a place for you to sign your name, for that inadvertent mistake, we were unable to make contact with new people who signed up for ministries. This year we corrected that error! OUR PARISH OF ST. MARGARET MARY will be celebrating its Centennial Anniversary in 2020, which is not that far off. On your brochure you will notice a place to sign up to be a part of the committee that will organize events in I hope that some of you will consider being a part of this planning committee. We hope to kick-off the planning at the parish celebration of the Feast of St. Margaret Mary on Sunday, October 7 at our picnic in Deming Park. The parish is also seeking out the names of families who are descendants of the founders of St. Margaret Mary Parish and to come together and share stories from their ancestors about the early years of the parish. In many cases these oral histories are lost with the passing of the elder generation. If you are a descendant of the founders, please let us know so that we can gather together for a meal and sharing the oral history of our faith community. We will tape the evening for our archives as a way of preserving the past. THE RETIREES will meet on Thursday, September 20 th for 11:00 Mass and Lunch at the New Day Cafe'. Immediately after lunch we will proceed to Barb and Jerry Lehman's persimmon farm. We will ride on a wagon around the tree farm, then to the garage and watch videos of their persimmon processing.
