5 Volume 13 Issue 8 5 St. George Church ~ Spirit of Stewardship Chosen and Appointed by God to Go and Bear Fruit For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. (I Corinthians 4:20) September begins the new ecclesiastical year, and it brings with it the chance for you to become part of the life of our parish of St. George by participating in our many ministries, from our choir to our many youth organizations such as GOYA to our educational organizations including Sunday School and Adult Religious Education to our philanthropic activities through Philoptochos to our Agape Ministries. There s a place for each of us to offer our time and talents to use for the glory of our Lord and for His Church. Stewardship is not simply about money or about how much of it you give to His Church. It s about participating each Sunday in the Divine Liturgy for your salvation. It s about becoming involved in our many ministries and activities. It s about giving your time and talents to benefit His Church and to those less fortunate around us. It s about living your life in the Light of Christ. Time + Talent + Treasure = Stewardship Be a good Steward. We are grateful to all the Stewards of St. George. 16 16 Volume 13 Issue 8 PTO NEWS Welcome Back. Hope you all had a wonderful summer whether staying locally or traveling abroad visiting family and friends. Hope everyone created lifelong memories to cherish for many years! It s hard to believe but another year of Greek School is upon us. The PTO welcomes back our returning families and looks forward in meeting new families on registration day. This year, registration and first day of Greek School will be September 11, 2013 in the Administration building. Remember that you must be a steward in good standing of St. George in order to enroll your child/children. If you are unsure if your stewardship is current or have not already done so, please contact the church office at to complete the necessary forms prior to Greek School registration. The teachers of St. George work very hard to encourage love and learning of the Greek language. They are sensitive to the fact that not all students live in a predominantly Greek speaking home. The teachers use creative ways to assist the children in learning the language at all ability levels. Some of the ways of teaching the language are through music and games. Give your child/children the opportunity to learn the language and culture and enroll them for the upcoming year in September. Greek School is every Wednesday from 4-6pm for K-6th grade. The PTO meets the second Wednesday of every month from 5:15-6pm in the library. We welcome all parents to come and share their ideas and thoughts. The success of the Greek School depends on the parents playing an active role in their children s education and volunteering their time with the fundraising activities. Enjoy the rest of your summer and best of luck to the students on their first day of school. God Bless, Melina, PTO President
