Barnabas Powell. Fr. Barnabas is a former Pentecostal minister who converted to Orthodoxy. I heard Fr. Powell speak last fall and I highly recommend that our parishioners attend his presentation, especially the one on Friday. May the Lord bless him with continued good health and strength to lead our Holy Church for many years. We also greet our seminarians who visit with us this day. We hope that their stay with us is enjoyable and that the Lord will bless them in their studies leading to the Holy Priesthood. Our most sincere sympathy and prayers go out to Olha & Ivan Kuziv, Maryan and the entire family on the tragic death of their beloved son & brother, Oleh, on Monday, January 15 th at the age of 27, following a deadly viral infection. Funeral services were conducted from our church on Wednesday. May Our Lord grant him eternal rest in His Heavenly Kingdom and embrace the family with His all-encompassing love. Memory Eternal! 3 A tradition continues at our parish this year with the cooperation of the cold winter weather. The ice cross in front of our church, on the occasion of Theophany, was erected on Monday, January 15 th. We thank the Dobronos Family for donating the ice and the following individuals who helped in its construction: Michael Dobronos Sons: Michal Dobronos Stephen Dobronos Grandchildren: Sophia Dobronos Jake, Tyler & Alexis Widmor Elena, Kayla & Joseph Dobronos David Woznak Hans Harasimchuk & son, Hans Harasimchuk Michael Nakonachy Chris Prosser Stephen Harasimchuk With so many laborers, ranging in age from youngsters to mid-lifers to seniors, we anticipate having this tradition continue for many years. Sincere Thanks!!! We express our appreciation to Pani Matka Anna, Oksana Logvynyuk and Natalia B. Mahlay for preparing our youth for last week s annual Carol Sing-Along between Liturgies. We thank the parents for their support and, most especially all our youth for participating. It was a very beautiful and uplifting program May Our Lord s blessings be upon Emilia Pasakas, daughter of Fr. Vasyl & Pani Matka Oksana, on her Baptism & Chrismation this morning. We also greet grandparents, Proto- Deacon Ihor & Pani Matka Iryna, and great grandparents, Petro & Taisa Mahlay and Dr. Dmytro Farion and the entire family. Mnohaya Lita! The All Saints Camp Boosters, which are sold annually to help raise funds for camp maintenance, are now on sale. They cost $25.00 each and make great Christmas gifts. Please see Mrs. Mary Ann Sklaryk for more information about this project and to purchase your boosters. Only a limited number of tickets are available. Don t wait too long and be disappointed. * * * * * * During the Christmas season, the words for our beautiful Ukrainian carols (in both Ukrainian and English phonetics) can be found in the book holders in each pew. Please use them whenever we carol. Please remember our sick and elderly parishioners in your prayers. Also, the clergy request that they be notified when parishioners are admitted to and/or discharged from the hospital and transferred to a nursing home and if a home visit is desired. If you would like a family member to be greeted in the bulletin on the occasion of a birthday or anniversary, please phone the rectory no later than the Monday before you wish it to appear. We are truly blessed to have a very active parish. Take a look at the numerous pictures on our parish website and Facebook. Plan to attend next Sunday s Parish Annual Meeting. 4 January 22, January 22, th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Ukrainian Independence The Nominating Committee is looking for good parishioners who are interested in the parish administration to volunteer to serve on the Board of Trustees, Auditing Committee and as Brothers and Sisters. The parish annual meeting and election of officers will be held next Sunday, January 28 th. Our Orthodox Church believes that life begins at conception! Pray for a change of heart in our nation! Also if, because of bad weather, there is a necessity to cancel that date, a new date will be announced later and the clergy will continue blessing as scheduled. Please remember that the blessing of one s home is a religious service. Please rise and turn off the radio and/or television. It is also appropriate to have a lit candle on a table and to participate in the services by your presence in the room.
