4 THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT Men s 60th Annual Lenten Dinner March 8, PM Zion United Methodist Church 808 Jefferson Street, Mendota The Mendota Area Ministerial Association is pleased to present the 60th Annual Christian Men s Lenten Dinner. The program will be hosted by First Presbyterian Church. Men of all ages are welcome to come and enjoy a great meal and a pie auction, fun and fellowship. This year s program will be presented by storyteller Chaplain Kent Terry. Come hear inspiring, uplifting stories told in a wonderfully engaging fashion by this experienced storyteller! All ages are invited. Join us! It will be held on Thursday, March 8th at 6:00pm in the school basement. We are planning to host a baby shower for the new triplets that we have been collecting donations for at church. We will have a display of all the baby items. Feel free to bring any additional items to the meeting which will be added to the display. The triplets mother, Valerie, will be in attendance to tell us about the babies journey into life so far. For our dinner, we will have the following menu catered by Hy-Vee in Peru: roast beef and rotisserie turkey, au gratin potatoes, broccoli supreme salad, seven layer salad, fresh fruit medley, dinner rolls and filled cupcakes for dessert. The cost is $12.00 per person payable at the door that evening. Table service will be also provided for your convenience. Please RSVP to Jan at or Jeanne at by March 5th. 10 HOLY CROSS CHURCH SUNDAY, MARCH 4, 2018 MENDOTA, ILLINOIS Embracing a Life of Meaning" You are invited to join us for our third session of weekly Lenten services sponsored by the Mendota Church Women. We will meet at 9:30AM on March 7th, at First Presbyterian Church (which is on the corner of 5th Street and 10th Avenue, and is handicapped accessible from the parking lot). Our program is based upon the study "Embracing a Life of Meaning," by Kathleen Norris. Our topic on March 7th is entitled "Community Matters". Each weekly one-hour session includes worship, a short video and discussion. A free-will offering is taken & donated to these four local organizations: Mendota Area Senior Services, Nightingale's Thrift Shop, Mendota Area Christian Food Pantry, & Abigail Women's Clinic. Refreshments are served and fellowship follows. Holy Cross will serve the session on March 14th. We will provide the coffee cakes, and we still need a few more volunteers.
