2 Dear Parishioners of St Anselm, Happy New Year! Even as we enter into the second week of 2018, we are at the zenith of the Christmas season with the Epiphany and Baptism of the Lord before us. The Baby in the Manger is sought after by the princes of this world who dare to recognize even in His humble appearance, the greatness surrounding Him and the Glory awaiting Him. The arrival of the Shepherds keeping vigil in the surrounding fields and that of the Magi from afar, equally mark the slow unveiling of a mystery. The mystery of incarnation. The mystery of the Divine manifestation within Human environs. This mystery is available all the time to all those prepared to welcome the Light of the World. During this Year, may our true search be for the manifestation of that inner Light within us, showing the way for each new step we take, just like the star that shone for the Magi. Let His light bring us closer to our neighbor, making us ready to share in His Glory. May our goodness manifested in word and deed be a solace and source of joy to those who come our way this week. Jose spends some time at home in India. Fr. George Thadathil sdb is the Principal of Salesian College Sonada and Siliguri Campus, Darjeeling, India. He has experience as co-pastor and as diocesan and regional youth director for the Catholic Youth Movement in India besides teaching experience in the seminary and college. He was the classmate of Fr. Jose at High School and for Theological Studies. If you are on blood pressure medication, have your blood pressure checked regularly. You can check your blood pressure at CVS. If you are a diabetic be sure your blood glucose is checked on a regular bases. The flu season is here; it is not too late to get a flu shot. If you are a senior make sure you get the extra strength flu shot, also, make sure you have the new pneumonia vaccine. During this time remember to: 1.Eat properly and drink plenty of fluids (more water and less coffee and alcohol). 2. Sleep at least 6-8 hours per night. Children require 8-10 hours. Many children do not get enough sleep. 3.Exercise whenever you can, it helps keep you fit and reduces stress. Stress effects your immune system. 4.Remember to laugh and play. If you have a car that you would like to donate for a tax deduction, you can call or go online and fill out the donation form at vinnies.careasy.org/home.html. 5 Christmas at St. Anselm A warm and grateful thank you to all of the parishioners who helped with decorating our church for the Christmas Season. The festive décor, which included poinsettias, wreaths, garland, lights and of course our beautiful Nativity Scene in the Crutch, helped stir the spirit of Christmas in all of us. The exterior lighting was also a wonderful addition to the seasonal extras. The outside lights were hung by students from St. Anselm School and Marin Catholic, with their parents guidance. It was a wonderful sight to see two generations working together. A special thank you to Teresa Stoner and her mother, Corinne Hubbard, for setting in place all of the flowers, wreaths, and garland. It was definitely a labor of love.
