At the principal celebration there is to be a Procession, and at all other Masses celebrated "with a large gathering of people" there is to be a Solemn Entrance. At the 9:00 a.m. Mass (our principal celebration ): Please gather in the Parish Hall to start our celebration. As you enter, be sure to pick up a Palm Branch! I strongly encourage everyone able to participate in the procession (from the Parish Hall to the Church via the sidewalk) to gather in the Parish Hall. Those unable to participate, can wait in the church. The blessing of Palms and reading of the first Gospel, will be at the Parish Hall. Kindly remember that this is a solemn procession and if we are not singing, we should be walking in silence. When we arrive at the church we will begin singing the Entrance Chant. Mass then continues as usual. When you enter the church please use the right, left, or center aisles to expedite everyone finding a seat. At the Saturday 5:00 p.m. Mass ( With a large gathering of people") Please pick up a palm as you enter church, and take your place in the pews. When it is time for Mass, the presider and other ministers (standing at the back) will begin with the invocation, blessing of palms, (the presider will walk through the church sprinkling holy water), the Gospel will be read, and then the ministers will process down the center aisle to the Entrance Chant. 4 Dear Faithful of the Diocese of Jefferson City, As we approach the celebration of Holy Week in our parishes, I wish to draw your attention to a special opportunity we have to support our brothers and sisters in Christ who continue to live and minister in the sacred land of our Lord's passion and resurrection. On Good Friday, the annual collection for the Holy Land will be taken up in parishes throughout the Diocese of Jefferson City. Our financial assistance not only supports the holy pilgrimage sites some of us have been blessed to visit, but also social and charitable activities, educational and scientific activities, and pastoral activities conducted by the Church. In additional, the collection supports liturgical, ecumenical and communications programs. It is important that we assist in providing care for the Christians living in the Holy Land, which as we know continues to experience a lot of unrest. Our financial support is a tangible way to manifest our communion and solidarity with the Church of Jerusalem. I ask you for your generous support of the collection for the Holy Land on Good Friday, April 19. With kind regards and prayerful best wishes for spiritual renewal this Lent, I am, Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend W. Shawn McKnight, S.T.D.
