6 Parish Nurse News Diane Barr & Betty Kaiser Help wanted!! Serenity Prayer Lord, I thank you for being with me through thick and thin, In the best of times and in the most challenging times. You are my rock, my fortress, my everything. With you, I discover complete serenity. You never forsake me. You were with me at the start, and You will be with me at the end. Until then, we carry on knowing the difference between achievable goal and futile efforts. Amen Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference needs your help to deliver food to those we serve. This is temp help to replace snowbird volunteers flown away for the summer. What is required? A willingness to help, a prayerful disposition, ability to lift packages up to 20 lbs. A car to transport the groceries would be a plus. You would be accompanied by a trained home visitation team worker. Hours? One morning a week (approx. 9:30 a.m. to noon). Call Martha Grimes or Barb Hortsing (leave message). The Legion of Mary Free Library will be out in front of Church on May 27th & May 28th. Please stop by and visit our table. We give out books, CDs, rosaries, pamphlets and holy cards. Everything is free. 7 Jane Taronik -is a home bound parishioner that receives Jesus from our Eucharistic Ministers. She enjoys talking of her trip to Medjugorie. Jane has a treasured rosary from Medjugorie that our beloved Ann Baslee brought back to her, the last pilgrimage that she made. Eugenia La Marine -is a long time member of Sacred Heart. She is home bound and looks forward to receiving Jesus from our Eucharistic Ministers. She is always smiling and brightening up our visits. Pray the Rosary for Peace in the World Saturday May 13th Sacred Heart observed the 100- year Fatima Anniversary The Traveling Mother of Divine Mercy Ministry under the spiritual guidance of Fr. Aldrin Nunes, C.Ss.R., is doing home visitations to bring the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the families visited and to pray the Rosary with them. If you are inclined to host a visit, please call Esper Radosta at This week the statue of the Mother of God is at the home of Emma Lombardo. About 30 of Emma s friends and family prayed together during the visitation, ( including a young boy named Ethan, wearing a rosary around his neck). By praying a Rosary on Highway 1 in front of Sacred Heart Church. It was May 13th 1917 that our Lady first appeared to the 3 shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal. 8 Remembering your First Communion continues_ Strolling down Memory Lane! Alice Clay Benedict 1st Communion June 5th 1949 Alice became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Smyrna Beach in Have been a continuous member for 72 yrs. Alice came with parents, Harry and Clara Clay to New Smyrna in Parents became caretakers of Sacred Heart Catholic Church when it was located at 306 Faulkner St. in New Smyrna. They lived in the little house next to the church known as the Caretakers House. Mother, Clara, played the organ and directed the choir. Father, Harry, cleaned the church, washed the vestments, and maintained the yard, etc. Father, Harry, suffered a massive heart attack and died while polishing the church candle sticks on October 22, My mother continued as church caretaker until She continued as organist and choir director for many years. Served as an unpaid organist for church services, weddings and funerals for 42 yrs. I was married in what is now the Social Hall (old church) in All 4 of my children were baptized and made their communion and confirmation in the same church. After 40 yrs of marriage my husband was baptized at Sacred Heart and received his first communion and confirmation all in the same day. He was baptized along with our grandson. Fr. Dillion said it was the first time he had ever baptized a Grandfather and Grandson together. Barbara Benedict in photo 2nd from right Irene BabineauMay 10th, 1945, St. Joseph in Fitchburg, Mass. What she remembered most was it snowed that evening and her mother serving strawberry shortcake because it was her favorite dessert. Stephanie Hill st Holy Communion St. Theresa s Washington, D.C. Deacon Stephen Cooley Mary CarlsonI made my first Holy Communion in Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral in the little town called Motherwell in Scotland. It was during World War II, all of us were a little scared, but the weather was beautiful that day. Moms prayers were answered for no bombs fell. Thank God for when they did fall everyone had to go into shelters. Mom couldn t come to the Church with me as she was about to have a baby so one of my aunts took me to Church. The War ended in 1945 Now we go forward 7 yrs and it s time for my little sister Rena to make her First Holy Communion. She was so beautiful and in the same dress that I wore. Once again, our Mom could not go to the church as she was going to have another baby number 7 out of 9 children. One of the things I will always remember besides receiving Jesus for the first time is walking in the procession 2 miles up to the Carfin Grotto to celebrate. The Grotto was full of dozens of life size statues and the underground Catacombs but it was a special treat to see them. Rena Zak

The price of these tickets is $10 each or (3) for $25. A 2 year warranty comes with this generator. The net proceeds of this raffle will benefit a number of charities as listed by the sellers table. CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL OF ORLANDO CONFERENCE 2017 at the Caribe Royale Orlando News from St.Vincent de Paul Orlando: We're grateful to everyone across the Diocese of Orlando who helped us collect 760 longsleeve t-shirts during our Lenten Drive for the Farmworker Association of Florida. St. Vincent de Paul Orlando partnered with the Diocese and the Florida Catholic to collect t-shirts that help migrant workers avoid coming into direct contact with pesticides.
