3 June 11, 2017 THE MOST HOLY TRINITY THE INEXPRESSIBLE MYSTERY The God of the universe is mysterious. Science has not been able to solve the mystery of how the universe came into being or explain exactly what continues to give it creative energy and masterful design. No religion asserts that it has found words to name fully the ineffable mystery of God, for no matter what name we use, God always transcends our limited ability to understand. God is a mystery to be believed, not known. And yet, we Christians believe that our name for God best expresses that inexpressible mystery: God is the Most Holy Trinity of three persons united in a communion of love, pouring forth that creative, saving, sanctifying love into the world. Today's scriptures celebrate the mystery of the Trinity and give us clues for living that mystery in our lives. BAPTIZED Lexington Thomas Zwica (Timothy F. Zwica and Kathryn Lee). He was buried on Saturday, June 10, at St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL. May he rest in peace. SECOND COLLECTION This Sunday s Second Collection is for retired diocesan priests. Thank you for your generosity. ST. ANTHONY NOVENA St. Jerome Parish is preparing for the feast of St. Anthony of Padua with Novena and Mass every day at 7 p.m. Though St. Anthony first joined the Augustinian Order, when he was 26 years old he joined the Franciscan Order around 1220 in the hopes of becoming a martyr for faith. Through his work in Italy and France, he became a loved and admired Saint, sharing the faith through simplicity which led to him becoming a Doctor of the Church. He is often invoked for helping to recover lost items. Novena will conclude tomorrow - on Monday, June 12, with Mass at 7 p.m. RENEW MY CHURCH - STUDY & DISCUSS Renew My Church is a multi-year process with the purpose of strengthening parish vitality and better aligning its resources and mission. The whole Archdiocese of Chicago started with this process two years ago. Join us in studying and discussing the vision behind the whole process. We will continue with meetings on Thursday, June 15, at 6 p.m. in the St. Jerome Small Hall. We are using a book Forming Intentional Disciples: The Path to Knowing and Following Jesus by Sherry Weddell. CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION Next Sunday, June 18, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. There will be a Eucharistic procession going from St. Jerome church at 10:30 a.m. (right after 9:30 a.m. Mass) through the streets of our neighborhood. According to Canon Law "Wherever in the judgment of the diocesan Bishop it can be done, a procession through the streets is to be held, especially on the solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, as a public witness of veneration of the Blessed Eucharist. VOLUNTEER CATECHISTS WANTED We are looking for a few good men and woman to teach Religious Education (CCD) in school year If you are looking for ways to make meaningful contributions to our church, or to help our children be all they can be become a Religious Education teacher. Assistance and training will be provided so you will be prepared to be an effective teacher. Please, talk to Eluisa Lynn (Coordinator of Religious Education), or talk to Fr. Stipe. SANTA LUCIA SCHOOL REGISTRATION Many of Santa Lucia School families have already registered. A new scholarship program will be available this summer. We urge the undecided families to register now. SUNDAY ENGLISH MASS SCHEDULE AT SANTA LUCIA AND ST. JEROME Mass schedule at Santa Lucia is: Saturday at and Sunday at English Mass schedule at St. Jerome is: Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday at 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. If your schedule calls for Mass attendance at an alternate time, feel free to bring your envelope to any of these Masses, and we will ensure your offering gets sent to your home church.

Visit the Parish Office. MESSAGE TO SANTA LUCIA SCHOOL STUDENTS Summer is here; we are done with our work, and ready for play! What a busy and successful school year we had! I must say, I am very impressed with the work the students have put into this year. You've studied hard, and you've turned in all of your assignments. You have completed your quizzes and tests. Your summer has been more than earned! There are many plans to make next year even better than ever! You will notice many little changes throughout the building, in your classrooms, and in your lessons. Your teachers and I will be working hard this summer to make sure your next school year at Santa Lucia is full of ambitious instruction, collaboration, and student-centeres learning! I want to take a moment to thank all of you for the beautiful school year you have given me. In my first year as your leader, you have taught me many lessons on how to be the best leader I can be for all of you.
