I ve been a bit busy and under the weather lately. Last weekend I lost my voice with all the activities going on at the parish so much has been going on! Pictured to the left was our Memorial Day Mass at St. Pat s Cemetery on Monday, May 29 th. I think this was the best weather we ever have experienced for this particular liturgy and we were blessed by those who helped place flags in front of the graves of those in the armed services who have died (some as early as the Revolutionary War!). We also were blessed to celebrate about eighty First Communions at the parish last weekend, spreading them out at three different Masses. Julie Dillenburg and the gang (including Jim Smith and his new trainee-son photographer Nate) providing all the pics for the event. Next weekend wraps up the Religious Education Sacrament year with our Confirmation Liturgy on Saturday, June 10 th at 4:00 p.m. with Bishop Siegel. There will be limited space for parishioners so come early to get a seat! This doesn t happen all that often, but this week we celebrate four funerals at the parish. Regina Skorupa was a graduate of St. Patrick s School in the 60s; Mateo Reyes 1

2 invested in our Hispanic Community. Richard Drobick was active in his parish faith life and Stephanie Ksiazak was a wonderful contributor to our parish, especially with her time, talent and financial resources. Mateo s Funeral is Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the parish. Richard s funeral will take place at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Regina s funeral will take place in church on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. and Stephanie s funeral will take place at St. Pat s on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord As I stated earlier this week, I finally received information concerning the ShalomWorld TV Series I have taped for the network! It will run starting June 13, 2017 (Tuesday) at 8:00 p.m. CST for twelve straight weeks. The talks are inspired by my books Stories on the Journey - A Homiletic Biography and the show is titled the same. You can buy the books on Amazon.com and you also will have a chance to learn more about our Holy Land Trip in November. The new batch of featured speakers which includes you will begin this month. Please be aware that on June 10 at 4:00 p.m., we will be holding our CONFIRMATION LITURGIES at the Saturday evening liturgy. There will be almost fifty students receiving Confirmation at the June 10 th Mass, so please plan accordingly. 2. On June 17-18, St. Patrick s Church will be hosting our twice a year THRIFT SHOP CLOTHING DRIVE for our St. Vincent de Paul Society. If you have not filled the bags that we are providing you in the entry ways of the church (or fill them with your own bags), you can still bring your own bags of clothes and bring them to back to church. A SVDP is located in our back parking lot for drop off. 3. On the first Sunday of each month, we honor those couples who are celebrating wedding anniversaries. Fr. Tim Andrés, Fr. Participants are asked to bring bags, laundry baskets, boxes, carts or wagons to transport your food and grocery products through the line and back to your vehicle. A representative from Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet, will be available at the Mobile Food Pantry to provide information about additional services provided by the agency, including: food and travel vouchers clothing and furniture vouchers financial assistance for prescription medication rent/mortgage assistance information/referral to other community resources. You do not have to be Catholic to participate. Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet, helps people of all faiths and beliefs.
