RCIA/Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults: Those interested in learning about becoming a member of the Catholic Faith contact Parish Office, Sponsors for Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation are required to provide a certificate of eligibility if they are not a member of our Partner Parish. To be a sponsor, you must be Baptized and Confirmed. Any parishioner needing a certificate of eligibility to be a sponsor for another parish is required to personally visit the Pastoral Center to obtain a certificate at our office during business hours. 3 PARTNER PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS The Word of the Lord The word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). On Sundays and great feasts the Mass has two readings before the proclamation of the Gospel. The first is taken from the Old Testament or, in Paschaltide, from the Acts of the Apostles. The second is taken from the Letters of Saint Paul, from the writings of another Apostle, or from the Book of Revelation. The two readings that precede the Gospel and lead up to it either point to the dawning light of Christ or bathe in the splendor of his resurrection. Persons chosen to serve as lectors must be truly suited to perform the function and should receive careful preparation, so that the faithful listening to the readings from the sacred texts may develop in their hearts a warm and living love for Sacred Scripture (GIRM, art. 101). The readings are proclaimed from the ambo and introduced by means of the prescribed formula: A reading from the book of..., or A reading from the Letter of.... At the end of the reading the lector sings or says, The Word of the Lord. In response the assembly sings or says, Thanks be to God. Melchizedek Project vocations discernment sessions for young men, adults The Melchizedek Project evenings for young adults to discern a vocation to the priesthood will be held Sept. 23, Oct. 7 and 28, Nov. 11 and 25 and Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the rectory at Holy Family Parish, Latrobe. 6 National Rosary Rally Prayer for Our Country St Joan of Arc Church in Farmington (across from Fort Necessity National Park) will be participating in the National Rosary Rally on Sunday, October 7th. Our event will start at 3PM. We are pleased to welcome Sister Marian Madden, SC who will speak about Our Lady Of Guadalupe. The recital of the rosary will start promptly at 4:00 PM. Afterwards, we will meet in the social hall for refreshments. Come spend the day in the beautiful mountains of the Laurel Highlands! Celebration the Season of Creation The Season of Creation is September 1 (the World Day of Prayer for Creation) through October 4 (the Feast of St. Francis). To celebrate this Season of Creation the Creation Care Team invites you to take the Saint Francis Pledge to live Laudato Si!, Pope Francis encyclical on care for our common home, by prayer, action, and advocacy. For the past three weeks, we have considered how easy it is to fulfill the Saint Francis Pledge; all it takes is a little thought, prayer and action.
