To arrange a date and instructions for the Sacrament please call the Parish Office, Sacrament of Marriage: Arrangements can be made by calling the office at least one year in advance. RCIA/Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults: Those interested in learning about becoming a member of the Catholic Faith contact Parish Office, Sponsors for Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation are required to provide a certificate of eligibility if they are not a member of our Partner Parish. To be a sponsor, you must be Baptized and Confirmed. Any parishioner needing a certificate of eligibility to be a sponsor for another parish is required to personally visit the Pastoral Center to obtain a certificate at our office during business hours. 3 PARTNER PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS Remembering Therefore, Lord, remembering the saving passion of your Son, his wondrous resurrection and ascension into heaven, and looking forward to his second coming, we offer you with thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice (Eucharistic Prayer III). The Church retraces the whole passage of Christ through suffering and death into the glory of the resurrection and ascension. She remembers too his promise to come again. In the mysteries of Christ she sees the unfolding of the Father s plan, the secret and hidden wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 2:7). Offering the sacrifice of Christ, she gives thanks. Having passed through the heavens (Hebrews 4:14), the ascended Christ, presents himself to the Father in an act of everlasting remembrance and thanksgiving. As the Church remembers and gives thanks, she too, in hope, reaches that inner sanctuary beyond the veil (Hebrews 6:19). Each of the Eucharistic Prayers contains this prayer of remembrance and thanksgiving. The mysteries we recall Christ s passion, death, resurrection, and return in glory are not, like other events, locked in an irretrievable past or inaccessible future. In the Mass they are all present to us, and to the Father. The here and now of the Mass is God s eternity. Holy Spirit School of Prayer Continues(Wednesdays) at 7:00pm except for Halloween week when it will be Tuesday and runs every week for 7 weeks in St. John's School Hall. There will be a Topic presented each week! Get to know the Holy Spirit and all he has waiting for you! Open your heart and mind to his presence; you won't be sorry! Come Praise, Pray, Witness and Grow together! Generaons of Faith Our Next Session of GOF will be on Sunday, November 11 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at St. John s School. 4 Charity Outreach Charity Outreach will be open the following Nov. 16th dates: 10:30am - 12:30pm (Thanksgiving Basket; see page 6 for information) Special Collection for Flood Victims help individuals and families recover from the storm that hit the following areas in our Diocese: Latrobe, South Greensburg, Derry, Herminie, Clarksburg, West Newton, Greensburg, Jeannette, Jacob s Creek, Lowber, Loyalhanna, Latrobe, Belle Vernon, New Stanton and Sutersville. Annual TURKEY BINGO At St. Florian Preschool, Sunday November 11 th. Doors will open at 1:00 pm, and Bingo will start at 2:30 pm. $5.00 per person. Includes specials and 50/50. Tickets are available at the door and the kitchen will be open Route 981, Mt. Pleasant. Join us November 4th at St. John s Social Hall at 12:15 for the kick off of Youth Group Christmas Play!! Join us for Pizza and fun as we get ready for the Christmas Season!! Every Sunday at 10:30 Mass in the Part ner Parish, your youngsters have an opportunity to participate in the Children s Liturgy of the Word, where the Sunday s readings are explained to them on their level. It is truly a wonderful experience for them. So, parents, send them to experience the Love of God! 6 Charity Outreach will be giving out Thanksgiving Baskets again this year, and we need your help!!! We have many needy families in our community, and this is a good way to show them that the Catholic Church cares about our neighbors. We helped over 40 families last year and hope to do the same this year. Here is a list of the items we are collecting: November 3-4 Pie filling/pie crust November Green beans/ corn Please place these items in the back of the Church after any mass. We will distribute the baskets on November 16th. If you know anyone that could use a basket, please let us know. If you would like to contribute to the cost of the turkeys, please put your contribution in an envelope, mark it Charity Outreach turkeys and drop it into the collection basket on Sunday. Beginning Sunday, Nov 4th It s National Vocations Awareness Week! As Catholics, we firmly believe that God has a plan for our lives! He calls some to marriage, some to the priesthood, and other to religious life. Some remain as generous single people. Fully living our own vocations and teaching young people how to discern God s call is a serious duty but also a joyful one. During this week, please pray about how God is calling you to live your vocation more deeply. Encourage the young people in your life-children, grandchildren, students, and friends-to be open if God calls them to priesthood or consecrated life. PLEASE NOTE: If you or your loved one are homebound and wish to receive Communion, please call the Pastoral Center, Also, if a member is in the hospital, we have no way of knowing unless the family notifies us.
