RCIA/Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults: Those interested in learning about becoming a member of the Catholic Faith contact Parish Office, Sponsors for Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation are required to provide a certificate of eligibility if they are not a member of our Partner Parish. To be a sponsor, you must be Baptized and Confirmed. Any parishioner needing a certificate of eligibility to be a sponsor for another parish is required to personally visit the Pastoral Center to obtain a certificate at our office during business hours. 6 St. John the Baptist Preschool Wishes to Thank all who participated in & Donated for Our Advent Event! It was a beautiful event & all of the tables were amazing! News from the Diocese: Annual Children and Family Services Appeal collection to be taken at Christmas Masses The annual Children and Family Services Appeal collection to support the work of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg will be taken at all Christmas Masses in the diocese Dec. 24 and 25. Christmas reminds us of the gift of God s own Son, Jesus Christ, given to each of us without question of our merit or eligibility. You are asked to support this appeal and make your contribution to help change the future of an individual, family or child through the good work of our diocesan Catholic Charities. Melchizedek Project vocations discernment sessions for young men, adults The Melchizedek Project days for young men in grades 9-12 will be held at Greensburg Central Catholic Junior- Senior High School from 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 17, March 10, April 14 and May 12. To register for either retreat, call or hpmsm@verizon.net Our Lady of Guadalupe Our Lady of Guadalupe is the title given to the Virgin Mary after appearing, according to legend, to Saint Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, an Aztec convert to Catholicism, in the village of Guadalupe (the present-day Gustavo A. Madero, D.F.) near Mexico City in 1531.According to the story generally accepted by Catholics, Juan Diego was walking between his village and Tenochtitlan (now Mexico City), where the Catholic mission was headquartered, on December 12, Along the way, in the village of Guadalupe, the Virgin Mary appeared, speaking to him in his native Nahuatl language. She told him to build a church at the site, but when Juan Diego spoke to the Spanish bishop, the bishop did not believe him, asking for a miraculous sign. The Virgin told Juan Diego to gather flowers from a hill, even though it was winter, when no plants bloom. He found Spanish roses and presented these to the bishop. When the roses fell from his tilma (a kind of apron) an icon of the Virgin remained imprinted on the cloth
