3 April 8, 2018 From the Desk of the Pastor Dear Friends in Christ, Christ is Risen! Truly, He is Risen! Христос воскрес! воістину воскрес! Thomas Sunday We are called to be witnesses, not lawyers or judges. St. Thomas was one such witness. He witnessed to what he saw, and what he saw was the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the flesh! St. Thomas was so convinced of the resurrection that he travelled to India to share the Gospel there, most likely dying as a martyr around the year 72 AD. His conviction about the resurrection aside, I m sure that St. Thomas wondered a few times what God was doing in his life. Lord, why did you take a Jewish boy and separate him from land and family, then send him to India of all places?!!? During his martyrdom, he may have wondered how his efforts would bear fruit decades and centuries later. Is it worth the sacrifice? What is the purpose to all this? These are questions of faith. When it comes to your faith life with God, a wise man (CS Lewis) once said, Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself. In your life you will find that others will become lawyers and judges over you once they discover you are a devout Christian. In such cases, you are called to be like St. Thomas and to become a witness in the trial of all trials. Yes, I testify that He rose from the dead, and I believe it so much that I ll accept the uncertainties and inconveniences in life as opportunities to proclaim this truth to everyone, even if it takes me to the furthest ends of the earth! Take comfort in this: Your faith is greater than St. Thomas because he believed these things having seen proof, but you believe them not having seen with your eyes, nor touched with your hands, what Thomas saw and touched. 4 New Things Happening at Holy Trinity: Parish Easter meal (Sviachene) will be on Thomas Sunday, April 8 th after combined bilingual Liturgy at 10 am. A big thank you to the following families for helping on Saturday to set up the hall and preparing the food for the Sviatchene: Sywy, Bednarchuk, Pavlyshyn, Korenovsky, Davyda, Pete L., Charrons, Angela H. We wish to welcome into full membership in the Catholic Church, Ming Medwig! She was received into communion with the Church on Holy Saturday during a private ceremony in the narthex of the church. Welcome home, Ming! Please, take an Easter Lily home after DL today! Following Liturgy this Sunday come outside for Haivky dances for kids and watch them find the chocolate! Kids and their families are invited to a parish bowling outing, Sunday, April 22 nd at 2pm at AMF Bowling Lanes, 2440 Noblestown Rd, Crafton, Pa. Parishioners aged 50+ interested in a parish bowling outing, mark your calendars for May 6 th, 2pm. Call rectory to confirm attendance by May 1 st Baptism for Penelope, daughter of Dr. Ivan and Ashley Colaizzi, will take place on Saturday, April 21 at 4pm Liturgy. Baptism for Kira Sophia, daughter of Chrystyna Mykhayliv will be on Sunday, April 29 during 11am Liturgy. First Reconciliation will be on Sunday, May 6 th at the 11am Divine Liturgy for the following three students: Roman Konecky, Megan McChesney, Julian Silecky. Marriage Bands for Spak, Larissa and Nicholas Marchi on July7 2018, here at Holy Trinity. If you have reason to believe one or both of these parties cannot proceed with preparations for Holy Matrimony, contact the parish office.

5 CAMP Heritage 2018 is soon approaching. There will be 2 weeks of day camp for children ages 4-12 beginning June 25 th and ending July 6 st.check our camp online at: Price for parishioners is $75 a week, hot lunch and snack included. Camp runs from 9am to 3:30 pm. Hoagie sale will run for a couple of weeks to help with Camp Heritage. Thank you to Youth Group members for registering in a timely manner our Summer Camp and Adventure to Indiana. July 8-12 th. Did you know our parish is growing? Since last week we ve added two new members: Jillian Lukac and Evelyn DeWalt. Welcome to Holy Trinity! Parishioners, make a point of inviting your friends and acquaintances, and remember to introduce yourself to new people and help them follow along in the book. Events at Holy Trinity Parish Festival this year will be on August For the Parish Festival this summer, we would like to ask for auction items/monetary donation that will be used for the auction.
