1 Parish Mission Statement We the people of Our Lady of the Snows Parish are a Catholic Christian community who reach out to one another and to all people by teaching and giving witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to invite all to hear, share, and live the Word of God. We try to inspire an awareness of our faith and to encourage others to renew and energize that faith in Jesus and His Church. We want to welcome the entire community to enjoy the warmth and love of our parish by participating fully in the sacramental life of the Church. 3 Dear Parishioners, Up, up and away! Thank you to those who have generously responded so far to the recent help to the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). As you know I do not like to ask for money and thankfully we are blessed in the parish with your support throughout the year that I do not ask too many times. Ever Ancient Ever New Our Lady of the Snows R. C. Church As you see on the ACA thermometer we are steadily approaching our parish goal of $105, 179. In the last weeks a total of $6,043 was received through parishioners keeping their pledges and with a number of new donors. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I know of the financial challenges everyone faces particularly as the holidays begin. I understand the self giving on your part to many different organizations and causes including the Generations of Faith Capital Campaign almost three years ago. I am happy to let you know $795,000 have been collected into Generations of Faith and our portion of the monies received back into the parish has produced great fruits including air conditioning for our meeting rooms and the new Bishop Chappetto Hall. Thank you, thank you, thank you! The Annual Catholic Appeal ends on December 31 st and I believe we can reach our goal and surpass it real soon if we can add more new donors to the Appeal. If you needed more time in the past to consider a pledge, I humbly ask your help today. Every gift is most important and deeply appreciated. Let us encourage each another through our sacrificial giving by completing the Appeal sheet in the bulletin. Please feel free to leave the pledge sheet and initial payment in the Sunday collection or at the Parish Office. NOCTURNAL ADORATION THE NOCTURNAL ADORATION SOCIETY invites all parishioners to Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament this First Friday, December 1st, beginning at 7:00PM in the church. A Holy Hour will begin at 8:00PM and conclude with Benediction. A reminder that Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament takes place every Thursday afternoon following the 12Noon Mass concluding with Benediction at 4:00PM.

4 COMMUNITY NEWS FRIENDLY VISITING PROGRAM sponsored by Catholic Charities seeks volunteers to assist homebound senior citizens in Queens with home visitation, food shopping, etc., one hour per week. Registration is important for all parishioners because then we are able to issue sponsor letters for Baptism, Confirmation and Matrimony. We can also give end of the year statements of your contributions to the church through regular use of the envelopes. We can also help you with letters of recommendation for employment, school, etc. Your registration will also help us with our parish census in knowing the number of Catholics in Floral Park and surrounding areas. AUTO DONATION. The St. Vincent de Paul Society will take any car, truck or van, running or not, and donate $75 to $200 per vehicle to Our Lady of the Snows. Any old or neglected vehicle sitting in your driveway or family member, friend or neighbor s driveway can be disposed of by calling (718) Free towing, any condition, IRS tax deduction.

6 THE WORD AMONG US THE WORD AMONG US is a periodical that offers daily reflections on the Scriptures proclaimed at Mass. This year there is a special Advent edition entitled, Do You See What I See? will be on sale in the Gathering Space next weekend. What a unique way to enter the holy season of Advent by reading the daily scriptures and reflection alone or with the family. The listed price is $5.95 but at Our Lady of the Snows they are available for only $2.00. Please use the white envelope and return your payment in the collection or at the Parish Office. BREAKFAST WITH SANTA takes place this Saturday, December 2nd beginning at 10:00AM in Santa s Wonderland (aka White Room.) Boys and girls along with their parents are welcomed to a hearty breakfast, fun and games, a visit with Santa and much more. Tickets are $5.00 per person ($7.00 at the door) and are now available in the Parish, Academy and Faith Formation Offices. Come, one and all, to meet jolly old St. Nick! CHRISTMAS RAFFLE sheets are in the Gathering Space of the church. Who wants to win some cool cash before Christmas and at the same time help Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy? Do you know a family member or friend who is interested in becoming a Catholic? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a wonderful process in our parish available to those who feel called to the Catholic Faith. The RCIA is also available for those Catholics who have not yet received First Communion or Confirmation. Please call the Faith Formation Office ( ) for more information. FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION. Parents whose children attend public school during the week are reminded to register their children for Faith Formation classes. New Hymnals We invite you to memorialize a hymnal for the year 2018 for a very modest donation of only $5.00 per hymnal. Please fill out the form below and return it to the Parish Office. The name of the person, in whose memory the new hymnal is donated, will be placed in the hymnals as we have done with this year s hymnals. The hymnals can be renewed each year. Thanks for your help. 7 SCRIP CARD PROGRAM. For every gift card purchased at face value the retailer will donate a percentage to our school. Gift cards are available for supermarkets, department stores, office supplies and much more. Gift cards can be ordered for different occasions including birthdays, anniversaries, etc. So before you shop or need a gift idea consider a gift card and help our school earn money while you shop! Scrip card flyers are located in the Gathering Space. CHRISTMAS REMEMBRANCE MASS CHRISTMAS REMEMBRANCE MASS will be offered on Christmas Eve at Midnight Mass. Green Christmas Remembrance envelopes are in the Gathering Space today for those who wish to remember their loved ones, living or deceased, at Christmas and throughout the Christmas Season. OUR LADY OF THE SNOWS CATHOLIC ACADEMY is a school of excellence which offers a quality Catholic education to its students. Recent New York State testing results showed our parish school far exceeding state, city and diocesan scores in Language Arts and Math for Grades 4, 6 and 8. Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy follows the NYS and diocesan curriculum. The school has a morning and after school program for working parents, SMART Boards in the classrooms, Spanish and Art, full time nurse, Aquinas Honors Program, physical education, sacramental preparation and much more! A reminder to everyone to please turn off cell phones before entering the church. We ask that before and after Mass greetings to each other should be extended in the Gathering Space as some parishioners may be praying privately in the church. 8 C.Y.O. CYO SPORTS. Our Lady of the Snows has an extensive and worthwhile CYO sports program including soccer, track, basketball, volleyball, swimming and cheerleading. Parishioners are welcomed to register their children in CYO sports at OLS by logging onto Registration for the session is now open. RELIGIOUS CHRISTMAS STAMPS RELIGIOUS CHRISTMAS STAMPS. Once again this year the Evangelization Committee invites everyone to purchase religious Christmas stamps after all the Masses today. Each book of twenty stamps costs $9.80 and exact change would be appreciated. Thank you for your support in this evangelization effort. BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY of St. Gregory the Great and Our Lady of the Snows is sponsoring a six week Bereavement Support Group for adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one. The sessions are being held on Mondays from now until Dec. 11 th from 4PM to 5:30PM at St. Gregory s Office Basement Meeting Room, th Ave., Bellerose. For more information please call Cathy (516) or Joan (718) WORLD YOUTH DAY 2019 Once again, Pope Francis will be celebrating the Catholic faith with young people from around the world for World Youth Day. This time, the celebration will be held in Panama during the winter week of January 21, Parishioners of Our Lady of the Snows aged 16 to 35 who are interested in learning more about the possibility of attending this event are invited to contact Father Jeremy for more information during a scheduled personal appointment (parents and guardians welcome!). While there is no commitment required at this time, communication with Father Jeremy is necessary before this Thursday, November 30th. Call RECITATION OF THE ROSARY takes place each morning in the church before the 9AM Mass. All are invited to pray the Mysteries of The Rosary each day before Mass. BULLETIN ADVERTISERS. We are grateful to those merchants and businesses that support our weekly bulletin by placing an ad.
