MASS Saturday: 5:00pm Sunday: 8:00am, 10:00am, 12:00noon Weekdays (Monday - Saturday): 9:00am PENANCE Saturday: 4:00 - And by Appointment BAPTISM Baptisms are scheduled for 1:30pm on specific Sundays. Catechesis for parents is required. Please call the Parish Office to register for Catechesis. Baptisms may only be scheduled after attending Catechesis. MARRIAGE You must meet with a priest at least one year beforehand to schedule the date and time of your wedding. The wedding date is finalized only by meeting with the priest. SACRAMENT OF THE SICK Those who are sick, homebound, or in the hospital are a vital part of our Parish family. 3 From the Desk of Fr. John I am happy to be able to offer two evenings in November for Faith Formation. Ms. Janet Folchetti, a fellow parishioner has graciously offered to lead a presentation on Lectio Divina Praying with the Scriptures. Mondays, November 5 and 12 th at 7:30pm in the Church. Ms. Folchetti has a Masters in Spirituality from Boston College and is looking forward to sharing her knowledge with us. Join us. Last weekend at all the Masses, I spoke to you about the Annual Financial Statement and I was happy to report a very good year. Importantly, I was also asked to announce to the parish the Archdiocesan Capital Campaign known as Renew and Rebuild. The Campaign has been taking place in every parish of the Archdiocese and now it is our turn to participate. The Campaign seeks to assist parishes who have numerous deferred maintenance repairs and projects. From the funds raised the parish will keep 74% and the diocese 26%. All parishioners are being asked to make a pledge over a five-year period. While fortunately, we are current with all our obligations thanks to your ongoing generosity, and while we do not have any deferred maintenance, the campaign may help us to substantially reduce our debt and allow us to more quickly and affordably make upgrades to our property, including additional parking, lighting, beautifying and rebuilding our property line on Rt. 202, etc. At this point, you should have received your Renew and Rebuild packet in the mail which includes your pledge form. We ask that you return your form as soon as possible. If you have, for some reason, not received your packet in the mail, please call the Rectory Office. Over the last few months, I have been quietly seeking the pledges of various parishioners and I am happy to report that to date we have already raised $500,000 dollars toward our goal of $1.2 million. Please take some time to prayerfully consider this and make your pledge today. While this is not my usual style of raising funds for the parish, as you well know, I believe this campaign can have great value. As always, I am grateful for all that you do for our parish and in every case, as has been my experience since coming to Holy Spirit, you always exceed my expectations. God Bless you all. 4 Next weekend is the Midnight Run drop-off time and there will be folks outside the church before each Mass to accept the items you have signed up to contribute. If you haven t yet signed up, there is still time and still a need for additional items. Just go to the Holy Spirit website and follow the Midnight Run link to the Signup.com website where needed items of food, clothing, and personal hygiene products are listed. Monetary gifts (personal check made payable to Holy Spirit Church with Midnight Run in the memo section or cash in an envelope indicating your name and Midnight Run donation) are also greatly appreciated. Holy Spirit Men s Retreat The theme of the Men s Retreat scheduled for Saturday, November 17 th here at Holy Spirit will be Listening to Pope Francis. Our Key Note Speaker will be Fr. DeBellis with additional talks on Pope Francis views on Grace, Mercy and Community. See the flyer in next week s bulletin for more information and the chance to sign up. Theology on Tap is back on Wednesday, 10/24/18! All adults are invited to Taormina Restaurant in Peekskill to hear Sister Danielle Baran speak on a very important topic: In this dark period, instead of leaving the Church, how can we BE the Church? If interested, please call (914) Confirmation Candidate and Parent Meeting All Confirmation candidates and a parent should attend the Confirmation meeting on Monday, October 22. The meeting will be held in the church at 7:30 p.m. Do you have a desire to share your faith? Our Religious Ed Program is in need of faithful men and women to help the children of our parish know and love Jesus and learn about our Catholic faith. Volunteers are needed for third grade on Tuesday at 4:30 and sixth grade on Thursday at 4:30. We provide Catechist manuals and resources to help you share our faith. Please contact Elizabeth Kogler at for more information. SENIOR GROUP Friday, November 9 th 10:00am to 12 Noon Parish Activity Center MEDICARE!! That is the topic which will be explored at the next Senior Group Meeting. Please bring a non-perishable food item for our Thanksgiving baskets, which will be given to our Church Food Pantry. As always, there will be the book club (this month s book is The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand) bingo, good conversation, old and new friends to make. God s Search for Us Oftentimes it feels like we are searching for God, but He is the one looking for us. God created us, redeemed us, and calls us to follow Him. Today, ask God to show you where He s calling you and resolve to follow Him.
