1 Church of the Holy Spirit 1969 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY OUR PARISH MISSION STATEMENT Holy Spirit is a Eucharistic Community, formed by and in the Holy Spirit, to enable our Community to come closer to God and to each other. MASS Saturday: 5:00pm Sunday: 8:00am, 10:00am, 12:00noon Weekdays (Monday - Saturday): 9:00am PENANCE Saturday: 4:00 - And by Appointment BAPTISM Baptisms are scheduled for 1:30pm on specific Sundays. Catechesis for parents is required. Please call the Parish Office to register for Catechesis. Baptisms may only be scheduled after attending Catechesis. MARRIAGE You must meet with a priest at least one year beforehand to schedule the date and time of your wedding. The wedding date is finalized only by meeting with the priest. SACRAMENT OF THE SICK Those who are sick, homebound, or in the hospital are a vital part of our Parish family. First Friday, December 7 th we will hold Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church at 9:30am followed by Benediction at 10:30am. All are welcome to spend time in prayer in the presence of the Our Lord. Feast of the Immaculate Conception The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be on Friday evening, December 7 th at 7:30pm and Saturday, December 8 th at 9:00am. As you may already know, the Immaculate Conception is the National Patron of the United States. We particularly come together as Church on this feast of Mary to invoke Her name and to seek Her help with problems that face our nation. Be with us. Page Two

3 From the Desk of Fr. John This weekend as we begin the Season of Advent, we welcome the Adult Candidates of the RCIA at the 12 Noon Mass as they take their next steps towards receiving the Sacraments at Easter. Please keep these fine young people in your prayers. Also this weekend, four of our young people are attending a Teen Conference in Ellenville, NY with kids from all across the Archdiocese. I m wishing them a great experience. Next Sunday, some parishioners and I will be travelling with our young people to the City for Mass at St. Patrick s Cathedral and a tour of Rockefeller Center. I m particularly looking forward to our lunch at Carmine s! Incredibly, in August of 2019 I will complete my first term of six years here at Holy Spirit. Honestly, where does the time go!!! In keeping with Archdiocesan policy, an evaluation of the parish will be conducted. Parishioners and staff who wish to do so may write letters with their own comments about our parish and the pastoral leadership of the parish. Fr. John. Prayer of Blessing of the Advent Wreath. (You can use the following prayer for the Blessing of your Advent Wreath at home.) Lord our God, we praise you for your Son, Jesus Christ: He is Emmanuel, the hope of the peoples, He is the wisdom that teaches and guides us, He is the Savior of every nation. Lord, God, let your blessing come upon us as we light the candles of this wreath. May the wreath and its light be a sign of Christ's promise to bring us salvation. May He come quickly and not delay.
