1 Church of the Holy Spirit 1969 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY OUR PARISH MISSION STATEMENT Holy Spirit is a Eucharistic Community, formed by and in the Holy Spirit, to enable our Community to come closer to God and to each other. MASS Saturday: 5:00pm Sunday: 8:00am, 10:00am, 12:00noon Weekdays (Monday - Saturday): 9:00am PENANCE Saturday: 4:00 - And by Appointment BAPTISM Baptisms are scheduled for 1:30pm on specific Sundays. Catechesis for parents is required. Please call the Parish Office to register for Catechesis. Baptisms may only be scheduled after attending Catechesis. MARRIAGE You must meet with a priest at least one year beforehand to schedule the date and time of your wedding. The wedding date is finalized only by meeting with the priest. SACRAMENT OF THE SICK Those who are sick, homebound, or in the hospital are a vital part of our Parish family. Our Lady s Grotto and Shrine Please feel free to enjoy our Grotto which is open for prayer and reflection. Votive candles are available in the Rectory for purchase to place in the grotto. 3 From Fr. John It brings joy to the Lord and to the parish to see adults continue their journey of faith in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). The program was designed some years ago by the church for adults who seek to become Catholic and for those already Catholic who need to complete the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation. We have several catechists who teach in the program. Classes meet twice monthly on Sunday afternoons at1:30pm in the Parish Activity Center. Classes will begin in the fall. If you or some family member or friend you know would like to receive the Sacraments, please call the Parish Office to register for the classes. Candidates will receive their Sacraments at the Easter Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday. God Bless and hope your summer is going well Fr. John Religious Education Updates Children s Liturgy of the Word is a special gathering during Mass for children ages 3 to 10. They hear the Sunday Gospel from the Children s Lectionary and then discuss it. Children s Liturgy introduces children to liturgical worship. We are looking for adults to help lead the children one Sunday per month. Please call the Religious Ed Office for more information. Vacation Bible School Get your kids ready to venture onto an uncharted island where they ll be rescued by Jesus! Anchor kids in the truth that Jesus carries them through every storm in life. Mark your calendars for this summer s Vacation Bible School August 27 through 31. The fun will begin at 10 a.m. and keep going until 1 p.m. Please call the Religious Ed Office to register or volunteer to help. Planning for the upcoming year of Religious Education is in full swing. Registration for the year has been steady; classes are starting to fill up. Children cannot be placed in a class without the registration form (available on parish website: or in the office. In addition to payment by check or cash, we are now accepting electronic payments. You can sign up for this through our parish website by clicking on the WeShare link (electronic giving). The Senior Group will meet on Friday, August 10 th from in the Parish Activity Center. Come to meet up with old friends or meet new ones, discuss books ( The Great Alone" by Kristen Hannah) or play cards. See you then, to enjoy coffee and pastries. Page Three

4 Fran Boylan-Holy Spirit Food Pantry News The Fran Boylan-Holy Spirit Food Pantry thanks all of the parishioners at Holy Spirit Church for your continued generosity and support. The food pantry is busy all year, and the summer months remain busy with children out of school and eating all of their meals at home. During the month of July, we gave food to 121 families that consisted of 253 children, 226 adults and 32 senior citizens. We are so grateful for your donations but are always in need of shelf stable food items. Please consider donating items such as tuna, peanut butter, cereal, pasta, rice, shelf stable milk, or canned fruits and vegetables (Please make sure that these items have not expired). We also accept toiletries and infant diapers. The next food distribution dates are Monday, August 20 th from 6:00-8:00pm or Wednesday, August 22 nd from 10:00am-12:00nn. Thank you again for your ongoing support of our ministry.
