1 Church of the Holy Spirit 1969 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY OUR PARISH MISSION STATEMENT Holy Spirit is a Eucharistic Community, formed by and in the Holy Spirit, to enable our Community to come closer to God and to each other. MASS Saturday: 5:00pm Sunday: 8:00am, 10:00am, 12:00noon Weekdays (Monday - Saturday): 9:00am PENANCE Saturday: 4:00 pm And by Appointment BAPTISM Baptisms are scheduled for 1:30pm on specific Sundays. Catechesis for parents is required. Please call the Parish Office to register for Catechesis. Baptisms may only be scheduled after attending Catechesis. MARRIAGE You must meet with a priest at least one year beforehand to schedule the date and time of your wedding. The wedding date is finalized only by meeting with the priest. SACRAMENT OF THE SICK Those who are sick, homebound, or in the hospital are a vital part of our Parish family. PRAYER INTENTIONS For the Youth of our Parish READINGS FOR NEXT SUNDAY Isaiah 61: Thessalonians 5:16-24 John 1:6-28 As a spiritual gift, remember your loved ones during our Christmas Masses. Christmas cards with intention envelopes will be available the next several weekends. Fill out the Christmas Spiritual Bouquet envelope and return it with your stipend (offering) enclosed. You may place it in the collection basket or drop it at the Parish Office. All Christmas Masses will be offered for these intentions. 3 From Fr. John I m delighted to be travelling with our young people to the City. There are over 30 of us who will attend Mass at St. Patrick s Cathedral and visit the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. I m sure it will be a great time for all. Continue to keep our Youth in your daily prayers as we take the next good steps in the formation of a Youth Ministry for our parish. Thanks to all who joined us for the Annual Christmas Party at Cortlandt Colonial Restaurant this past Saturday. The food served by Cortlandt Colonial was excellent as was the music. We all had a great time. Thanks to the Social Committee and the volunteers for their hard work in planning and hosting the event. Please support our choir by attending their Annual Christmas Concert on Sunday afternoon, December 17 th at 5:00pm in the Church. Tickets can be purchased after all Masses and at the Rectory Office. As many of you know, they are a very accomplished choir with many talented musicians and singers, totaling about 45 members. And of course, our Children s Choir will add their talents to the event as well. I thank Joan Rojas and the all the members of the choir for providing music at all Masses on weekends. They are an incredibly generous and faith-filled group. Many blessings to all of you. I would like to remind everyone that this year, Reconciliation Monday is on Monday, December 18 th in the Church from 4-8pm. The priests of the parish will be available during these hours for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. You are invited to stop by the Church and receive the Sacrament. When John the Baptist speaks of preparing a highway for our God he is referring to the road that leads to our soul. By receiving the Sacrament, we allow Jesus clear passage into our lives. It is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves this Christmas. I send a reminder to all our altar servers and children s choir that our Christmas Party will be held on Friday evening, December 15h at 6:30pm in the Parish Activity Center. Remember that the invitation is extended also to your family members. Please call the Rectory this week to let us know the number of people who will be attending. I look forward to being with all of you. Recently, we updated our website and we invite everyone to take a look around. The website address remains the same and is holyspirit-cortlandtmanor.org. While we continue to work on it, the basics are all up and running, including a digital version of our weekly bulletin, links to sites of interest, and the daily readings for Mass. Eventually, the website will include links to social media where you can like us on Facebook and/or follow us on Twitter. Congratulations to all our RCIA students who took their next step with the Rite of Welcoming today. They will be receiving their Sacraments in the spring at the Easter Vigil. Please keep them in your prayers. Our RCIA candidates are Catharine Bloseser, Karina Bravo, Joseph Pinero, Louis Rodriguez, Heather Smith, Jake Vasquez and Jessica Warren.
