1 PHONE: (972) Kimberly "Kim" Lynn Seymour December 13, January 3, 2016 Kimberly Lynn Seymour, age 46, of Dallas, Texas, passed away January 3, Kim was born December 13, 1969, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Larry Seymour and Ella (Thompson) Lutrick. Kim graduated with her Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in Accounting and a double Masters from Clemson University and the University of South Carolina with degrees from both in Public Administration. She loved to read and was active in politics, the LGBT and the SPCA. Kim loved her cats, Parker and Kate but above all else, she loved her daughter and grandsons. She can now rest in peace with her godson and nephew, Jordon Fitzpatrick. She is survived by her daughter, Maggie Schmitt and husband, Collins of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Quinn Harper Schmitt and Harley Jordon Schmitt; mother, Ella Lutrick and husband, Warren of Plano, Texas; father, Larry Seymour and wife, Lisa of Start, Louisiana; grandmother, O Reese Lutrick; sisters, Jennifer Seymour of Plano, Texas; Samantha Hughey and husband, Nate of Royse City, Texas; Mallory Seymour Middleton and husband, Shane of Start, Louisiana; brother, Brandon Lutrick of Dallas, Texas; nieces and nephews, Hayley Franz and Dean Vaz of Royse City, Texas; Taylor Fitzpatrick-Martin and husband, Garrett of Dallas, Texas; Kirsten Clem of Plano, Texas great-nephews, Liam Martin of Dallas, Texas; Micah Middleton of Start, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Davis Lutrick, Jordan and Essie Seymour, and Eloise and Ernest Thompson, and godson and nephew, Jordon Fitzpatrick. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, January 8, 2016, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials

2 I first met Kim online on a Buffy spoiler forum (we were both big nerds, and didn't care). We hit it off really well and became very close friends. She became someone that I could tell anything to, she would never judge me, and would always give great advice. We would have silly conversations and make up imaginary scenarios where I would go out there to live close to her (I live in the UK). For July 4th weekend in 2003 Kim had a get together with several of us from this forum (we were all like one big family). She brought everyone together, and was kind enough to let me stay with her for 3 whole weeks. In which time we bonded over our love for cheesy murder mystery tv shows and had mini Buffy marathons. She laughed at me getting us kicked out of the liquor store (it's not illegal in the UK for under age people to be in a shop that sells alcohol, only illegal to sell it to them) as I was honest and said I was 19 when they asked my age. She never let me forget that one. Thanks to Kim I got to experience a lot of things like drive in movies, a drive around a lot of America (she set it up for me to road trip with someone and stop off in Vegas for a night), lots of meals out and quite simply some wonderful memories that will stay with me forever. Kim and I always stayed in touch and always called each other our best friend. Contact was more sporadic in recent years as it's really hard with the time difference, but that never changed our bond. I will always love and miss Kim. She was honestly the most wonderful person I know and I feel lost without her. I don't think this comment really does her justice, as I have a whole bank of memories that show how great she was. And I cannot put into words how I feel when I think of her. Pure and simply a wonderful woman, who despite having her own problems at times always had time for others. And she was so fun. My life is what it is today thank to you Kim, and I think of you every single day. It has been so long since I last saw you and talked to you but I have thought of you over the years and hoped that you were well and happy. I was in complete shock when Priscilla (Flener) messaged me yesterday to tell me that she had

3 come across a post from Jennifer that led her to the Gofundme.com page and where she learned of your passing. I have struggled to come to terms with your passing and I feel it necessary to memorialize you from my perspective since you played such an instrumental role in my life early on. I met you when I was in my very early 20's and I remember that you were so much fun to talk to because you were so smart and engaging and you had convictions much like myself. I had never met anyone quite like you before and you opened my eyes to the intellectual side of me that I never knew existed. You awakened a love of learning in me and I credit you wholeheartedly with my attending college and getting my Bachelor's degree. I had quit school in the 10th grade and gotten my G.E.D. and was working at KinderCare for something like $4.35 an hour with no real prospects for my future. I was a single mother and I knew I wanted better for Staci and myself but had no inkling that I could actually get a college degree. I just didn't think that I was smart enough to do it and I had no idea where to even begin if I wanted to. You convinced me that I was absolutely capable and smart enough to do it and you helped me navigate through the details of getting started. It took me years to finally finish that degree; I began that journey in 1992, I believe, and didn't actually graduate until 2003 but I did it! And, the feeling of accomplishment is one that is indescribable (is that a word?). For years after I graduated I would sometimes have to pinch myself to make sure that I wasn't dreaming and that I did actually do it! Again, I give you all the credit for instilling the courage and confidence in me to accomplish that dream. You were an amazing person with so much potential and you were special to me. Our friendship had it's trials and tribulations and unfortunately we became estranged for the last 23 years and I am terribly sad that I will never again be able to speak to you. We don't realize that our time on this earth is fleeting and we have to hold onto our loved ones as hard as we can while they are here. I am so sorry that you became ill so early in your precious life. I wish I had known, not that I could have made you better, but perhaps I could have helped to ease the pain a little. I will forever miss our deep conversations and debates about the things that both you and I were

4 passionate about. I did love you and you were one of the best friends I have ever had; and honestly, I have only had 2 true best friends my whole life. Again, I am so sorry that we never had the chance to mend our differences and realize our friendship again before your passing. I also loved your family; Magpie, Jenn, Sam, Brandon, and your mom. They were a part of my life for several years also and I am so sorry for their (your) grief. Magpie, I'm certain you don't remember me but I knew you when you were very young and you were a sweet, feisty little girl, much like your momma. You and my little girl, Staci were friends and spent a lot of time together for several years. I am so proud that you grew up and had two little boys of your own. Hold on tight to them and love them deeply and unconditionally as your mom loved you. They grow up so fast it is unbelievable! My Staci is 27 years old now and I still remember her big brown eyes and chubby little cheeks with that big brown paci in her mouth! It seems like yesterday. Ella, Jen, Sam, Brandon, and Magpie, I am so sorry for your losses and grief. I cannot even begin to imagine how difficult it must be for you right now after losing two family members in such a short time. My prayers and thoughts go out to you and I pray that you all help each other to heal and try to go on without them. May you all hold onto each other a little tighter and make sure you all know how much you love and cherish each other and may you all find peace and joy again. I wish I had known about Kim's passing sooner because I definitely would have attended the funeral and I would have loved to see you all again. Everywhere I look I am greeted by reminders of your love, even if you aren't there anymore. You were a stubborn woman and persistent to a fault. But you loved unwaveringly and without reservation. And if I never do again, that will be okay, because experiencing it with you was enough to heal me. The October I first got to Texas you found out I had never been allowed to celebrate Halloween so you bought a few decorations and surprised me with them. We made a few more and then we decorated together and when one fell down and the apartment trash collector tried to take it away you sprinted down the stairs to get it back. We walked around the neighborhood looking at costumes and houses. That is what you did for me always. You found out what I needed and you provided it for me. You healed old wounds and my heavy, distrustful heart. I remember too that your mom sent us a trivia book for Christmas one year. We spent hours asking each other questions out of it and hitting the buzzer. We didn't play by the rules, instead looking through for questions we thought the other wouldn't get. You probably could have won every game but thanks for throwing me the occasional bone. We talked for hours, most would say for too long, but now I feel that it wasn't long enough. Sometimes I got scared walking alone after dark and each time you would talk me through it. You would talk about tv

7 shows and movies and music. You would send me pictures of your grandsons and tell me stories of your family. You'd tell jokes until I was laughing so hard I couldn't remember to be afraid any more. I am grateful for every memory and for every moment. I am especially grateful for our last conversation. You were so hopeful and you seemed peaceful. You were planning for the future and that part is painful, but the plans were so beautiful. And I am certain they would have been successful. You made my life better. KENDRA PARKER, JANUARY 8, 2016 Sweet sister, I will miss you so very much. My heart is breaking that I was too late to save you. I want you to know you were loved by so many. Life is not always easy and some endure more trials in life than others. You were a wonderful person. You were a lot like me in some ways and I cherish that we shared those traits. You were my protector from the moment I was born. You protected me still during my illness and advocated for me when I was unable to do so myself. My heart holds a special place just for you that noone will ever occupy. I will cherish the good times and look for peace to heal when thinking of the rough times.
