2 Yetta Hey! Trail Boss Notes January 2017 It feels kind of strange that I am writing my last Trail Boss Notes. Although we had a year packed full of fun events, it went by so fast. I d like to start by thanking all my officers for making this possible. Whether it be through running events, making sure the supplies get to where they are needed, or just being there to bounce ideas off of, there is no way I could have made it through this year without them. I look forward to continuing on as 2017 s Old Trapper. I typically structure my newsletter the same every month, talking about events we just had, then what is coming up. I m going to try something a little different this last time. Below I ve listed a few of the highlights, from my perspective, of the good times I had in the organization in Winter Camp at Punderson: A little bit of nervousness when Keith passed me the hatchet. 12 more months to go. Gray s Armory: My second time going, but this place never gets old. It s so neat to hear about the history of Cleveland. Ray s Indoor Mountain Bike: This has always been my kids favorite event. They talk about it for weeks afterwards. Paintball: First time we combined Trailblazers and Senior Princesses. Worked out very well. This is my favorite event. Spring Camp: Two words: Wright-Patterson. I have wanted to do this event since I entered the Trailblazers. It was so worth it. Hope to go back soon. Skyzone: My first time going. I have never been so sore in my life. Awesome place. Fall Camp: Wow, that adventure course at Peek n Peak was awesome. I d really like to get back there again. It was amazing watching the boys conquer their fears. Brown s Game: Well, you win some, you lose some. Hanging out with a great bunch of guys. Boat ride is always awesome. Turkey Bowl: The future of our organization. Keith and I literally had about 100 kids asking us for the ball. I know I left out some events. Don t take it the wrong way. They were all awesome. 7 IT'S FREEZING COLD OUT THERE - RIDE YOUR BIKE INSIDE This is not an adventure guides bike-hike my peeps. It's the Youtube-in-Your-Life bike experience of all times and you might even see something like this: But more likely this: Sunday February 12 th from 4:00 until you can't move anymore because your son dragged your old bones all over a biotch of an indoor bike course that neither of you can believe really exists... and it's been in your own hometown for how many years?!!! (but they will throw you out at 10:00 pm if you stay past your bedtime) Beginner areas. Baller areas. Sit on a couch and wait for your son in front of a fire areas. Picnic tables. Order-in a pizza. Bring a bag of food. Buy a Gatorade and a Cliff-Bar. It's up to you. Thirteen Dollars? What?????? 13 Smalls to Ride? That s it. Pay at the door. (If you're waiting on your duff while your son shreds - you don t pay a dime). Be present to sign the waiver (Like a helmet, no one rides without one). Bring a bike. 20" BMX or full-size mountain bike it doesn't matter they all roll on these endless indoor trails. You pay $17 to rent one (big or small) and $20 to reserve one ahead of time because there are only so many, so just bring one you stole from your neighbor's kid. Bring a helmet. They have free borrow-a-helmet but sometimes they run short. If you're a dork bring your laptop and do your work on free wifi. Don't let him miss this. Two teams of 5 players drive around the court in bumper cars. Each player carries a plastic scoop to pick up, catch & throw a whiffle ball at a target on a backboard.
