Brethren first of all, Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one and to your family, as we, as a lodge have a lot to be thankful for. November is upon us and this month is a rather important month for Crocker Lodge No. 212 as we will elect our new officers to rightly serve for the Masonic Year We have chosen responsibly our leaders, using the emblematic tool of Master Masons, the Trowel. Our presumptive pillars have been certified by our new inspector Worshipful Mike Wilson. Our Junior Officers have been performing in their advance stations and future appointees are being primed for their upcoming roles. Our lodge is truly safe and all-encompassing in their hands. Join me in congratulating them and hope that they will continue the journey that we started. In fine, our lodge is taking harmony seriously being the strength and support of all societies especially of ours. Our lodge is blessed to have officers, past masters and members who are ever willing to put their best foot forward. Secondly, we will also celebrate Veterans Day and for this matter I would like to thank the active and retired men in uniform whose dedication and commitment to safely protect our country s interest foreign and domestic for their services. To all veterans and active members of our lodge you can wear your military gala uniform if you so desire in our Stated Meeting. Again thank you for your service. Thirdly, I would like to invite everyone to Crocker Lodge 147 th Anniversary Annual Dinner and Dance on November 12, 2016 at 6:00 pm to rejoice with us, our many years of Brotherhood & family. Please join us and together we can do better and be stronger as a fraternal order. Fourthly, I would like thank the brothers who helped in preparing the food, music entertainment and who were in attendance for good fellowship and camaraderie among brothers from across the world during our AnnComm fellowship night at the Lodge. Guevarra, Jr. (2018) Greetings Brethren, As usual, October was a very busy month. Between meetings, conferrals, practices for proficiency test of incoming officers as well as the carpet installation in the Lodge. One very special event that happened in October, 2016 was the presence of the Daly City Chief of Police, Manuel Manny Martinez, (Manny as he prefers to be called) and his Adjutant Lieutenant Javier A. Boyes who joined us for dinner and fellowship. Chief Martinez, subsequently was invited to our Lodge room and was presented the plaque for his contribution in restoring the peace and order in the City of Daly City which by the way, our Lodge is under his jurisdiction. This is the first time in the history of our Lodge that the Chief of Police of the City was invited to our Lodge to be honored. This event not only fosters a good relationship between the city s finest but also the exposure that it brought to the authorities that there is good and honorable law abiding group of Brothers at 17 Hillcrest which helps the community through its various programs by donating and volunteering for good causes. Not surprisingly, accolades were exchange by Chief Manny, as Ex-Officio Members Carlo S. Chaves (WM) Miguel F. Jabagat, Jr. (SW)

7 14 7 Our Newly Raised Brother Bro. Adonis Reyes well as the Lieutenant Boyes by sending cards of gratitude to yours truly who, under his auspices made the initial contact with the Daly City Police Department. The Chief chided anything that I can do to help the Lodge, please let me know. Take it for what it is worth, but I think that it is a very powerful statement, coming from him. Inviting the Chief of Police was of course, one of the greatest idea of our Master, Worshipful Brother Carlo Chavez. He is thinking that it is a good public relation for the Membership as well as a good eye opener for respected members of the community to be curious about Masonry on the premise that they might join the Fraternity. Worshipful Carlo uttered that this is such a success that we will spread it out to invite the Chief of Fire Department, public school teachers recommended by their own peers, as well as veterans of the military who put their lives in harm s way serving our country. 10 10 11 Continued from page #3 Lastly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who made Crocker Lodge a success story in supporting me and the corps of officers, ladies and family in attaining our desired programs. Let us also congratulate our newly obligated brother Jaime Calibo who got his EA degree. Also, to our newly raised brother to the sublime degree of master mason bro. Adonis Reyes. As well as to Bro. Jonathan Chan in his passing as fellowcraft. Let us guide them to the proper path. I look forward to seeing you all in our upcoming events. Chaves The Mosaic Pavement and It s Esoteric meaning From time immemorial the checkerboard squares of black and white have adorned temples throughout history, even in the great halls of Egyptian Temples. This checkerboard pattern was not for mere decoration but to impart a profound esoteric meaning to those that initiates that passed through it hallowed halls. The simple but profound meaning of good and evil, positive and negative and right and wrong is symbolically represented by these white and black squares. To the novitiate of our arcane Craft this is one of the first symbols he will be exposed to during his initiation and by his study and interaction with our mysteries, and Brethren, he will follow the positive path of Masonry by avoiding the pitfalls of life which are symbolized by the white and black checkers of our Lodge Room carpet.
