5 From the Master in the East Worshipful Guadalupe Thomas FROM THE EAST Greetngs Brethren, We started the month of January with a double frst degree and a raising. My congratulaton to our new obligated Brothers, Brando Cruz and Michael Brouchard, welcome to our Fraternity. And also to Brother Michael Johnson of his becoming a Master Mason. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ofcers and the Raising team for a job well done and of course to our MVP's, Worshipful Donnie dela Cruz from Carquinez Lodge, for giving the Lecture of the Entered Apprentce Mason and Worshipful Inspector John Wasson for the Master Mason's Lecture in full form. The double frst degree was well atended, Brothers from diferent Lodges came to witness the Conferral, from Martnez Lodge, Carquinez Lodge and Columbia-Brotherhood Lodge, and the feedback: it was a beautful degree.i'm looking forward of seeing our own members who have not visited our Lodge for quite sometme to come and join us in the memorable Masonic moments of our Candidates so we can together give them the support and encouragement in their journey. This month of February, we will be having our Annual Superbowl Party. Worshipful Brother Keith Watles will be again the Kitchen Crew Manager. Also for this month, we will have a double Fellowcraf Conferral on February 20, Brothers Joaquin Loayza and Brian Shields will be enlightened about "Chambers and Staircases" This is also our Annual event to celebrate the President Day. Members of other Lodges signifed their desires to partcipate. The degree will start at around 9:30AM and the favorite meal of our President and the father of the United States of America will be served aferwards. Then fellowship will follow afer: cofee, donuts and bagels will be available at around 8:30AM, before the start of the Conferral. I will also put on the Calendar a Karaoke/Masons Fellowship nights on the 25th of February also to keep the 23rd open for possible 2nd degree Conferral. On a separate note, I would like to convey my Condolences and Prayers to our Junior Warden who lost his sister. May she enter the house of our Lord in peace. 6 From the Senior in the West The Sun in the West The lodge activities of our first month were pretty busy due to our degree rehearsal and conferrals. I am proud to say that our newly elected and appointed officers have successfully delivered. I take this opportunity to congratulate a few brothers in our lodge. I would like to start with our newly initiated brothers Brando Cruz and Michael Broussard for being newly initiated as an Entered Apprentice Masons on January 12, This will be a start of your Masonic journey. Your travel might be rough and rugged, but we are all confident that you will enjoy your journey. Furthermore, please also join me on welcoming our brother Michael Johnson for being raised to the sublime degree as Master Mason on January 26 th. Again, congratulation brothers!!! Remember Brethren, when we become a Mason, the eyes of the fraternity and the world is upon us, let us therefore talk and act as a just and upright Mason. It s because of the wonderful word that we called A Valentines. The food of thought here are, please be reminded and don t forget to greet and mention a few good words to your love ones. For me I consider this month a special month, much more on the 14 th day. That s why the tradition of our culture has been this way when a person attained the age of maturity. This ensuing Masonic year, I will be the overseer our candidate development and advancement. For your information, I will be in close working relationship with the candidate s coaches and mentors for examining candidates throughout their degree work. 10 Notes From the Editor Dear Brethren, Our new Masonic year has been exciting and busy thus far. Congratulations to our newly initiated brethren and to our newly raised brother. For all of you, your Masonic journey has just begun and will continue throughout your life. There is always something new to learn. In that spirit I strongly encourage you to check out our lodge's library. If any brother would like to check out a book or need help finding something, please don't hesitate to ask me. I would like to invite our newly initiated brethren and the other Entered Apprentices to the monthly Symbolism meeting lead by myself. These meetings are held once a month and will focus on the deeper symbolism of the Entered Apprentice degree. We have met two or three times so far, and the feedback I have received from the Entered Apprentices who participated, has been very positive.
