On behalf of Pearl Harbor Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. We hope to have a successful year in We will begin with initiating a new Brother, Mr. Dallas Beauregard, on January 22nd. He is a member of the Navy and is an Electronic Technician Second Class (Navigation) on USS HAWAII (SSN 776). I am glad to be back and proud to be your Senior Warden for Also, I will be creating the trestle and ensure it is communicate to the lodge and posted on our website. I will be in and out all year, so please understand that I will do the best I can to plan as far ahead as feasible. BIRTHDAYS: By request of the Secretary, he stated that some Brothers desire that their birthday remain unknown. He has and will continue to mail out birthday cards to those who have birthday for the present month. If you have not received yours, please MW Lee Skinner, so that we can update your mailing address. TRESTLEBOARD: JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2018 Our trestle for the upcoming months includes: - Monday JANUARY 1 ST : DARK in the observance of NEW YEARS DAY. - Monday JANUARY 8 THh : Stated Meeting. Dinner is at 6:30 pm with the meeting beginning at 7:00 pm. Also, this being our first stated meeting of the year, the Flag of Our Country will be presented. - Monday JANUARY 15 TH : DARK in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. - Saturday JANUARY 20 TH : Volunteering at the USS MISSOURI on Ford Island. Meeting either at 9:30 am at Bro Andrew s House or at the ship at 10:00 am. I live behind the big Navy Exchange, my address is 5033 Kidd St, Honolulu, HI RSVP is requested. - Monday JANUARY 22 ND : First Degree Conferral upon Dallas Beauregard. Dinner at 6:00 pm and opening lodge at 6:30 pm. - Saturday JANUARY 27 TH : Valentine s Day dinner with the wives/significant other. The location is JJ Bistro & French Pastry with the time TBD, a flyer will be coming out shortly. - Monday JANUARY 29 TH : Second degree practice. Dinner is at 6:00 pm following by the practice at 6:30 pm. - Monday FEBRUARY 5 TH : Second degree practice. Dinner is at 6:00 pm following by the practice at 6:30 pm. - Monday FEBRUARY 12 TH : Stated Meeting. Dinner is at 6:30 pm with the meeting beginning at 7:00 pm. - Monday FEBRUARY 19 TH : DARK in the observance of Presidents Day - Saturday FEBRUARY 24 TH : Volunteering at the USS MISSOURI on Ford Island. Meeting either at 9:30 am at Bro Andrew s House or at the ship at 10:00 am. 3 PLUMB S BEAUTY PRESENTLY BRO. DIMITAR GEORGIEV HAS BEEN ELECTED AS THE JUNIOR WARDEN. HE WILL BE INSTALLED AT A LATER DATE. FROM THE SOUTH JUNIOR WARDEN: PENDING INSTALLATION USS MISSOURI RESTORATION PROJECT: We will be volunteering on January 20 th and February 24 th. Please mark your calendar and RSVP with myself or MW Lee. We will be once again simply cleaning and walking the ship, there is nothing tedious nor difficult. Also, if you have any physical limitations, our ability to volunteer is flexible and we will still be able to find something for you to do. This is our way to be active as a lodge outside of the temple. We will be wearing our Pearl Harbor Lodge Polos and Ballcaps. If you have not yet picked either up, please communicate with MW Lee, as a member you are authorized to one free issue, for additional you may purchase them. WEBSITE: ttp:// MASONIC EDUCATION: MASONRY & CITIZENSHIP author unknown In the Charges the newly Entered Apprentice Mason is enjoined to be exemplary in the discharge of his duties as a citizen by never proposing or countenancing any act which may have a tendency to subvert the peace and good order of society, by paying due obedience to the laws under whose protection he lives, and by never losing sight of the allegiance due to his country. In some parts of the world, men of many nationalities may belong to the same lodge. Many of our past members retain membership in lodges in England, Scotland or elsewhere. Citizenship in another country is not, of itself, a bar to membership in our great fraternity. MASONIC EDUCATION (CONT D): MASONRY & CITIZENSHIP author unknown Loyalty to one's country and loyalty to one's Lodge are never in opposition to each other. We expect the individual Mason to work to work at the duties of citizenship, making himself available for service to his community, state and nation. Only through this can the privileges which we enjoy as Masons and as men be saved for our children. As religious differences exist between men, so do political differences show partisan politics. No proposal advanced in political debate is without its adherents and dissenters. No individual, striving for political preferment, is without his supporters and his opponents. That such differences may be eliminated from lodges, discussion of political issues and candidates as well as religious issues, is prohibited by our ancient Law. Public education, having become the cornerstone of our freedom, is considered a political matter and since 1989 the Grand Lodge of Hawaii has sponsored and supported, through the Lodges, the annual observance of Public Schools Week. The annual review of our national Constitution, an instrument shaped in large part by Masons, occupies our attention in September of each year. Man little realizes the power for good of precept and example and one active citizen has an influence on the deeds of others far beyond his own acquaintances. Let us hope that this Candidate will be, through Masonry, a better citizen. FOOTER 3
