5 From the Master in the East Worshipful Armand Ballesil FROM THE EAST Brethren, Already November, this is a month to refect on what we are thankful for, the Thanksgiving Day and the Veterans Day. The day we have to honor and thank all Veterans for the sacrifces they rendered for our country. This is also the month for the Annual Electon of Ofcers (most Lodges). Yes Brothers, the tme has come to elect the 2018 Pillar Ofcers: The Worshipful Master, Senior and Junior Wardens, Treasurer and Secretary. On November 2nd at our Stated Meetng; Master Masons in good standing of Naval Lodge No. 87 will have to vote. Brothers remember the phrase " Who best work and best agree". As we prepare to elect the new set of Ofcers, let me take this opportunity to thank you all for the support you gave me. I apologize for any shortcomings that I may have and hoping that I was adequate or satsfactory in the performance of my duty. Mistakes were made, but through the guidance of some, the rough seas became calmer. There are stll rough tdes along and ahead, but again by your support, we shall overcome. Brothers, through this communicaton, I would like also to inform everybody in advance about other major actvites our Lodge will be having for the month of December. On our Stated Meetng, December 7th, it will be also our Lodge Annual Christmas and New Years party. I like to encourage everybody to tag along our kids and let us enjoy the festve aura Christmas and New Years may bring. If you can, kindly RSVP to the Junior Warden if you are tagging along friends, family members and kids. And secondly, the most important of all, the 2018 Lodge Ofcers Installaton on December 9th. The Ofcers of 2018 are all gearing up, honing their respectve footwork and rituals, come January, it will be full speed ahead. Happy Thanksgiving to All. Upon the Square. 6 From the Senior in the West THE SUN IS IN THE WEST The lodge as we all know, has been quite busy for the last couple of months. The progressive line of new officers were trying to be certified in their respective offices. With the blessing of our District Inspector, in regards to our officers, I have a great hope to be able and be certified by the month of October. Let us cross our fingers, from the Senior Deacon up to the Master. Let us work a bit more harder in reference to our lines and degree work. I knew very well it is not easy, especially for brethren who are still trying to make a better living. We can and will do it. Right brethren. A reminder to all of us advancing officers and appointed officers, knowing and being proficient in the rituals does not make a good leader in our Lodge. It encompasses more in governing and operating the Lodge. It entails training and using your resources i.e. the CMC, the Lodge Plan, retreats on line courses from the Grand Lodge and other resources to help you make mature and intelligent decisions. Leaders are not born, they are made, it s my personal discretion. As you progress it is imperative to equip yourself and don t be alone, utilize the most important asset that you will have...the wisdom of our past masters. I am happy to announce that Bro. Colin Amato, has been selected by the awards committee as our 2017 Mason of the Year. His day of celebration was considered a hefty evening for the Lodge. Out of his many contributions to the Lodge since he became a Master Mason has made an impact into most of our Lodge operation. Not to mention from the Trestle board to its editing, mailing and publication in the website and s, candidates coaching and also our lodge librarian, etc. A likable person, he has through his diplomatic skills have made our Lodge stability and maintain that fellowship which is integral to any Lodge. On behalf of a grateful Lodge Congratulations and thanks for everything. It s well deserved and hard-earned. Again, and again brethren let s not forget the Implements of Freemasonry but especially the TROWEL. I like the words being used; among whom no contention should ever exist but that noble contention, or rather emulation, of who best can work and best agree. Fraternally, Rollie Q. Caabay Senior Warden From the Junior in the South As the Sun at Meridian Height Time flies...it s now November and election month. In line with our annual tradition of having a great dinner for the stated meeting and election night, we will have prime rib, baked potatoes, dinner roll, baby carrots and salad. We can complement this meal with desserts from the brethren who will join us this Thursday. Like always, I have been very appreciative of the kitchen crew who has been supporting me throughout the year. Our Chef to prepare the meal this time is our Hiram Awardee Joe Ferrer. I d like to congratulate BW Glenn Munkres for receiving the Golden Veteran Award. It s a welldeserved recognition and it was gratifying to be part of the ceremony. Your contribution to the Naval Lodge has been so much that we are enjoying the product of your labor as well as the future generation of this Lodge. Your word of wisdom and financial corporate knowledge kept us afloat with the changing markets. Again thank you. We finally received our certification for our 3rd Degree ritual. We just need to hone our skills and get certified on our 2nd degree ritual. I will have a heart to heart talk with our Junior Warden to expedite this process. For our brethren who have been waiting for their conferral, I apologize and request to be a little more patience. Happy thanksgiving and start enjoying the Holidays with your loved ones.
