2 Page 2 Message from the East Brethren: October has arrived and with it the beginning of Autumn and the beauty of the Fall season which it brings. Our year to date has been eventful with new Members joining us at our meetings and enjoying our fellowship. Brother Terry Reaka was raised to Master Mason at the end of September and we are planning additional Degrees for new applicants soon. Octobers Stated Meeting will be on the 13th of October and we will hold our business meeting to confirm the Life Membership Program at Veritas Lodge and other matters. Please plan to attend to vote on these important matters. The Officer School of Instruction will meet at Saddleback Laguna Masonic Center on October 3rd to work on the Third Degree and pending elections at 6:30 P.M. All officers are required to be there and ready to take part in the work. Veritas Lodge will elect a new officer line in November and we will transfer the responsibility of office to the newly elected officers on December 3, 2016 at the Instillation of Veritas Lodge Officer line scheduled on that date. This important procedure is already under way and we have begun the process of sitting in advanced positions for the coming 2017 year. This is the usual manner of activity in the fall season and I encourage each of you to participate in our meetings and take a role to enable our Lodge to function well and to encourage new individuals to join with us in our fellowship. 3 Page 3 Message from the West Greetings Brethren, It s October and that means it time to start getting ready for the Holidays. I will be going to the gym everyday for the next 3 weeks in order to make way for all that wonderful food the Brethren will be bringing to Lodge. Speaking of hard work, congratulations to Brother Reaka on receiving his 3rd Degree. We don t get many opportunities to perform the Third Degree and I think Veritas Lodge did an excellent job. I look forward to next year s practice schedule and really drilling down on our ritual skills. The month of October is pretty quiet for our Lodge however, there is plenty of Masonic history to note: October 1st - The Philalethes Society was organized in October 5th - Grand Lodge of Oklahoma was formed in October 11th - Franklin D. Roosevelt received his 1st degree in 1911 October 13th - Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania was established in October 14th - Grand Lodge of Connecticut recognized the Prince Hall grand lodge of Connecticut in October 15th - The Grand Lodge of Vermont was organized in October 16th - The Grand lodge of Kentucky was established in October 20th - The Grand Lodge of the State of Israel was constituted in October 30th - Lyndon B. Reeves was installed as Master and we were making plans for our Widow s luncheon, my how the time has flown. As always I hope everyone is in good health and spirits. 4 Page 4 Message from the South Brethren, Welcome to the month of October. We had an evening of fellowship at Turks Restaurant in Dana Point back on the 17th of last month, and the Brethren who attended enjoyed themselves over some tasty grub and adult beverages. Also, shortly before Brother Terry Reaka s Raising on September 22nd we enjoyed an evening of tacos and enchiladas, with heaping portions that seemed to be more than we could chew, but our appetites prevailed and I didn t notice anybody fall asleep during the Degree. Outside of the annual gathering of our Pedestal Officers at Grand Lodge later this month, Veritas is not planning any special evenings of fellowship for the month. I hope things are well for everybody and have a Happy Halloween!
