BOTTOM LINE Gather children for a Large Group time that includes interactive worship, the introductory sketch, and the Bible story. The Stage Script is written for those who gather their preschoolers together from multiple rooms and have a larger space on which to present the Bible story. If you are pulling your children to a rug to one side of your preschool space, you may benefit from using the Rug Script. WORSHIP A Worship Leader and live instruments are recommended to sing along with the music tracks. Encourage children to be active during worship by incorporating the appropriate hand motions. WHAT YOU NEED: Paperclip Memory Verse Card in your Bible at Proverbs 3:5, NCV. You will need a CD player and this month s worship song, Promises, which is included in your monthly files. The dance moves for this song are available on the Dance Moves DVD, Hip Hip Hooray! You will also need Get Up, available on itunes and at AmberSkyRecords.com on the Hip Hip Hooray! album. The dance moves for this song are available on the Hip Hip Hooray! DVD. WORSHIP LEADER: Yay! It s finally here. It s rainbow day. On the count of three, everyone tell me what their favorite color is. One, two, three! (Pause.) Wow! I heard a lot of awesome colors. God made each and every one of those colors for us. Isn t that awesome? And today we re going to hear about how God made the rainbow to remind us that Who keeps His promises? CHILDREN AND WORSHIP LEADER: BASIC TRUTH God loves me. WORSHIP LEADER: Yes, He does! Let s sing our song one last time. (Lead children in singing Promises, this month s worship song.) You are awesome singers. Tell me again: Who keeps His promises? CHILDREN AND WORSHIP LEADER: WORSHIP LEADER: Yes! We can trust that each and every day. Let s say our memory verse together one last time. Are you ready? Do it with me. Let s sing our song from last month about how much God loves us. (Lead children in singing Get Up. ) I love singing with you, friends. I am so thankful that I get to sing with you every week. And I am so thankful that God loves me and that Who keeps His promises? CHILDREN AND WORSHIP LEADER: STORY Choose an adult or teenager who relates well to preschoolers to tell the Introductory Sketch. If possible, use the same person for an entire month, as the Host role stays the same each month. Choose an engaging adult to tell the Bible story. This person should be able to command the attention of preschoolers and control the group through animated storytelling. These scripts are written to be told and not read. Advanced preparation is necessary. First Look offers weekly introductory sketch and Bible story videos on the DVD titled Wonder! Look at God s Story. This DVD is available for purchase at OrangeStore.org or as part of your monthly Media Package. INTRODUCTORY SKETCH WHAT YOU NEED: A multicolored umbrella HOST: (Enters carrying the closed umbrella, closes the door to the clubhouse, and then leans against it.) Whew! That was a CLOSE one. I almost got RAINED on! Have you ever been rained on before? (Pause.) It s NOT fun! What do you need when it starts raining? (Pause for children to answer.) That s right, you need an umbrella! (Hold up the closed umbrella.) Only this is no regular umbrella! This was a birthday gift from my mom! Are you ready to see what awesome color it is? Let s count down from three. CHILDREN AND HOST: Three, two, ONE! (Open umbrella to reveal the colors.) HOST: See? It s not just one color. It s ALL the colors. You might say this super awesome birthday present is COLORIFIC! (Storyteller enters carrying a Bible and listens to Host.) There s one BIG problem with this amazing birthday present. I m afraid to use it. What if it gets wet? Or what if I use it to keep me shaded from the sun and all the colors fade? I don t want anything to happen to my beautiful colorific 2018 The ReThink Group. All rights reserved. 4

5 umbrella! STORYTELLER: Hey, [Host s name]. HOST: Oh, hey. I was just showing everyone my new birthday present. It s an umbrella. STORYTELLER: Wow! That is beautiful. But you know, you shouldn t be afraid about the weather even the rain. Because God made us a special promise about the rain. HOST: Really? Awesome! Well, I ll let you get to it then! STORYTELLER: Actually, could I borrow that beautiful umbrella to help me tell our TRUE Bible story today? I promise I ll take good care of it. HOST: (Pause, thinking.) Um, okay. I ll be back for it in just a few! (Host closes the umbrella, hands to Storyteller, and exits.) BIBLE STORY WHAT YOU NEED: A Bible; a small toy boat; a sign that reads 40 ; a plush or toy bird preferably white; a small stick; and the umbrella from the Intro Sketch. All items except the umbrella can be placed in a box and preset onstage. STORYTELLER: (Holding Bible.) As I just mentioned, God made a promise about the rain. And we ve been learning all month long something very special about God s promises. Who keeps His promises? CHILDREN AND STORYTELLER: STORYTELLER: Yes, He does! So God told Noah to build a big boat called an ark. Now how big was the ark? Was it like this toy boat? (Hold up the toy boat.) CHILDREN: No! (Put the toy boat away.) STORYTELLER: Nope. Was it like a sailboat? CHILDREN: No! STORYTELLER: No, bigger than that. The ark was HUGE! Remember, God told Noah to build this big boat, and did he do it? (Pause for responses.) Yes! Noah did exactly what God told him to do. Then God sent two of EVERY animal to Noah that s why the ark had to be SO big. It had to fit two giraffes, two elephants, two rhinos, and ALL their food! So Noah put all the animals in the ark just like God told him to The ReThink Group. All rights reserved. 5

6 God said, Get your family, Noah, and stay on the boat because I promise to keep you all safe. And did God keep them safe? (Pause for responses.) Of course! Because Even after it rained for (hold up the 40 sign) 40 whole days and 40 whole nights covering the WHOLE earth with water, God kept them safe. (Put the 40 sign away.) After lots and lots of days, the water went down and land began to appear. Noah didn t know if it was safe to come out yet, so he sent a dove (hold up the toy/plush bird) to see if the bird could find land. Everyone, flap like a bird for me. (Flap like a bird.) And do you know what happened? After Noah sent the bird out, the bird came back. (Draw the bird back to your chest.) Do you know what that means? There s no dry land yet. They can t go out yet! Later, Noah sent a dove out again. (Hold up the bird and fly it around the stage.) Everyone flap like a bird. (As kids are flapping, hold up the small stick.) Oh, look. The bird has a branch. Do you know what that means? There are trees! Everyone wave your arms to do a happy tree dance! (Pause as children wave their arms.) This was great news. If there were trees, then there was land! But just to make sure, Noah sent the dove out one more time. (Fly the bird around the stage and back into the box.) And this time it didn t come back! It had found a place to live! God told Noah, It s safe now. You can come out of the ark and bring all the animals with you. God kept them safe just like He promised. And then God made... (Open up the rainbow umbrella.)... a rainbow! The rainbow was a sign of the promise between God and every living creature that God would never flood the whole earth again. Rainbows are so beautiful, aren t they? I love it when I see a rainbow, because it helps me remember that Who keeps His promises? CHILDREN: STORYTELLER: Yes, he does! Let s pray. PRAYER STORYTELLER: Heavenly Father, You are an awesome, amazing, creative God. Thank You for the promise You made to Noah when You placed that first rainbow in the sky. Help us to remember EVERY time we see a rainbow that You always keep Your promises to us. We love You, God. Amen. (Host enters. 7 OUTRO SKETCH WHAT YOU NEED: The multicolored umbrella HOST: Wow! Every time I use this umbrella, I can be reminded that And you know what? I m not going to be afraid to use this. Because I want to be reminded of that all the time! God kept His promise to Noah and He will always keep His promises to you and me too. So remember, if it rains and if you happen to see a colorific rainbow, you can know for sure that Have fun in your small groups and I ll see you next time!
