Between the diaper changes, snacking, and rocking, there are small windows of playtime that are an amazing opportunity to teach children about their loving Heavenly Father. This curriculum is designed to bridge the gap as your young toddlers move from the baby room towards the twos. We have provided four playtimes to teach the monthly bottom line through one-on-one as well as small group play. Repeat each activity as long as there is interest. Remember, toddlers LOVE repetition. These toddler playtimes have also been produced as posters available at for you to hang on the wall for easy reference. THE BIBLE TELLS YOU WHAT YOU NEED: Plastic tub, locker mirror, large yellow pom-poms WHAT YOU DO: Before introducing the tub to the children, attach the locker mirror to the inside bottom of the tub. Then place a layer of large yellow pom-poms on top of the mirror. Help each child push the pom-poms aside so they can see themselves. Continue as long as there is interest. WHAT YOU SAY: Come sit with me. I have something I want you to see. Look inside my tub. Do you see you? Where are you? (Push the pom-poms aside.) There you are. God made you. (Let the pom-poms fall back.) Where did you go? There you are. I see you! God loves you. Where did you go? There you are. I see you! Jesus wants to be your friend forever. The Bible tells you that God made you, God loves you, and Jesus wants to be your friend forever. The Bible is God s Word. God s Word is with you wherever you go. 2. SHAKE, SHAKE WHAT YOU NEED: Shakers WHAT YOU DO: Give each toddler one or two shakers. Shake the shakers by your side for God loves and in an up-in-the-air punch for you. Say the chant to the typical cha-cha rhythm while standing and dancing. Older children will want to march around the room while saying the chant. WHAT YOU SAY: Hey, everybody. Did you know that the Bible tells us that God loves you and you and you and you? That s right. He does! Does everyone have a shaker? Let s do the cha-cha. God loves you. God loves you. God loves you. RING STACKER WHAT YOU NEED: Ring stacker WHAT YOU DO: Gather a few toddler friends together to play with the ring stacker toy. Each time a child puts on a ring, say a word of the sentence, The Bible is God s Word. WHAT YOU SAY: Let s play with this toy together. Can you put the rings on? The Bible is God s Word. Good job! STORY TIME Gather children on a rug or in a specific area of the classroom to tell the story. Some kids (especially the younger ones) may wander. That s okay. They re still listening and learning! WHAT YOU NEED: Preschool Bible, Story Pictures Activity Page copied onto white cardstock LEADER: This is the Bible. (Hold up Bible.) It has God s words in it. God gave us the Bible to show us which way to go. We love the Bible. (Give Bible a hug.) The Bible says we can take God s Word with us wherever we go! No matter where we go in the world (show picture of globe), God s Word can go with us in our heart. When we practice saying God s words, they live in our heart, and we can take them with us everywhere. Let s practice some of God s words. Say, God made me. God made me. Say, God loves me. God loves me. Say, Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Great job! Now, you can take God s words with you when you go home (show picture of house) and when you go to the store (show picture of store) and even when you go to the playground (show picture of playground). CRAFT TIME Gather small groups of children around you at a table for toddler craft time. Depending on the size of your group, you may lead the craft two or three times. Not every child may want to participate in craft time. That s okay. Feel free to send home the craft materials for them to complete with their mom or dad. WHAT YOU NEED: Map Activity Pages, white cardstock, heart stamps, red inkpad, wet wipes WHAT YOU DO: BEFORE THE ACTIVITY: Copy Map onto cardstock and cut on the dotted lines. Each child needs one. DURING THE ACTIVITY: Retell the story as the children put heart stamps on the buildings. WHAT YOU SAY: DURING THE ACTIVITY: Today we learned more about the Bible. The Bible has God s words in it, and it tells us which way to go. That makes it very, very special. Everyone, let s say the word Bible together at the count of three. One, two, three, Bible. Great job, everyone! The Bible says we can take God s Word with us wherever we go! No matter where we go in the world, God s Word can go with us in our heart. One is a house and one is a store. God loves you and is with you wherever you go, when you are at home or when you re at the store. Let s stamp some hearts on the house and the store to show that God s Word is with us everywhere we go. You can take God s words with you when you go home and when you go to the store and even when you go to the park. We can take God s Word with us wherever we go.
