(Lay the praying hands picture down beside the heart picture and hold up the Smiley Face This smiley face picture reminds us that the Bible tells us to share with others and sharing makes people have a smiley face! Show me your smiley face. (Smile at the children.) Those are great smiley faces! (Lay the smiley face picture down beside the praying hands and hold up the Globe This picture of the world reminds us that we can take God s Word with us wherever we go. Make a great big circle over your head with your arms like this. (Demonstrate.) The world is SOOOOO big! It s where all the people live. The Bible says we can take God s Word with us wherever we go in the whole world! (Lay the globe picture down beside the smiley face picture and hold up the Handprint What is this? This is a hand. Hold up your hands and wiggle your fingers like this. (Demonstrate.) This hand picture reminds us that God made us. That s right! The Bible says God made you! Point to yourself and say, God made me! CHILDREN and LEADER: God made me! (Lay the handprint picture down beside the globe picture.) LEADER: When we remember that God made us, we can take God s Word with us wherever we go. What is with you wherever you go? CHILDREN and LEADER: [Bottom Line] God s Word is with me wherever I go! Curriculum Materials for 2-year-olds 2018 The rethink Group. All rights reserved. 3
4 LEADER: It s time to close our eyes and put the hands God made in our lap so we can talk to God. Prayer LEADER: Dear God, thank You for making (name each child). They are so special. I pray they grow up knowing that You made them and love them. We love You, God. In Jesus name, amen. Groups: Creating a Safe Place to Connect (Small Groups, 15 minutes) Create a safe place to connect through activities that are written to reach every learning style while reinforcing the Bottom Line that was introduced during the Bible Story and applying it to real life experiences. Memory Verse with Motions Hear from God Memory Verse Review Made to Move: An activity that uses a preschooler s natural desire to move to help them learn What You Need: No supplies needed Before the Activity: Say the memory verse and do the following motions in front of the children: I have hidden (thumbs to chest) your word (both hands point up) in my heart (cover heart with hands). Psalm 119:11 (Hold out hands like a book.) During the Activity: Say the verse again with the motions and invite the children to do it with you. Repeat several times. What You Say: Before the Activity: I am going to say our new Memory Verse today. Everyone watch me! I have hidden (thumbs to chest) your word (both hands point up) in my heart (cover heart with hands) Psalm 119:11. (Hold out hands like a book.) During the Activity: Now let s do it all together! Are you ready? I have hidden (thumbs to chest) your word (both hands point up) in my heart (cover heart with hands) Psalm 119:11. (Hold out hands like a book.) After the Activity: Good job! Our memory verse tells us that God s Word is with us wherever we go! What is with you wherever you go? [Bottom Line] God s Word is with me wherever I go! 5 2. Follow the Signs Talk About God Bible Story Review Made to Create: An activity that allows preschoolers to review the Bible story, Bottom Line, or memory verse by creating a craft What You Need: White Circle and Handprint Parent Activity Option 2 Activity Pages, paper plates (1 per child), painter s sticks (1 per child), glue, tape, white cardstock, scissors, washable tempera paint/large stamp pad, and wet wipes During the Activity: The children will glue a white circle to one side of a paper plate. They will then glue a Handprint Parent Activity Option 2 to the other side of the paper plate. Once Handprint Symbol 2 and Handprint Parent Activity Option 2 are glued in place, assist the children in placing their handprint in the center of the road sign. Have wet wipes ready for easy clean up. What You Say: Before the Activity: I want everyone to hold your hands up like this. (Hold your hands up.) Do you know that no one in the whole wide world has the same fingerprints as you? (Pause.) It s true! When God made you, He gave you special, one-of-a-kind fingerprints. But that s not all. Everything about you is special! The Bible says you are wonderfully made. I think wonderful is pretty awesome! Today we are going to make a sign with our one-of-a-kind hands to help us remember that God made us and that makes us very special. During the Activity: I m going to give each of you a handprint picture and a stick. I will come around and put paint on your wonderful hand and then you can make your wonderful handprint inside the circle on the page. (Option 2 will glue the Handprint Symbol 2 to one side of the paper plate and Handprint Parent Activity Option 2 to the other side of the plate and then to the stick.) Once everyone has a Handprint Symbol road sign made: Wow! Your signs look amazing! They truly are one-of-a-kind! When you remember that you are wonderfully made by God, you are taking God s words with you wherever you go, because God said He made you, and you are wonderful! Tell me: What is with you wherever you go? [Bottom Line] God s Word is with me wherever I go! 3. Wonder DVD If you have time you may show the Wonder! Look at God s Story DVD to reinforce the lesson.
