A plastic ink filler serves as its feeding bottle. It should be handled very carefully and not gripped too tightly as its bones are very delicate. It relishes banana, guava and apple. It also has taken a fancy for almond, biscuit, chocolate and coconut, and other delicacies it will not find in the wild like laddoo, murukku and poriurundai. Quite an impressive list of eats for such a small creature but only small pieces of one or two are given at one time. The animal sleeps for long periods but when it is awake it is very active and playful. Its favourite pastime is climbing window curtains and running to and fro on the rod. It jumps onto inmates of the house without any fear and even allows visitors to stroke its back gently. The squirrel has a free run of the house but how long it will stay is anybody s guess. September 4-10, 2011 Vinayaga golu for 43 rd year BSNL s offer to defaulters BSNL Chennai Telephones will launch a campaign to restore landline connections of subscribers who have defaulted in payment by offering staggered acceptance of dues. The number of disconnected lines due to customer default is estimated to be about 30,000. Under the plan, defaulters can get their landlines restored by paying a third of the outstanding amount and the balance in three instalments. Those who accept the offer to pay 30% (or even more) of their dues will have their lines restored within an hour of payment while broadband connections will take a day for reactivation, according to an official. ISD facility will be restored only after the entire outstanding is settled. As part of the campaign, letters in English and Tamil detailing the offer are being personally delivered to all disconnected subscribers through Divisional Engineers, linemen or phone mechanics. The Deputy General Manager of each area has been tasked with overseeing the delivery of letters. Subscribers ready to accept the offer can contact BSNL s customer service centers. The lorry was transporting the cement from Ennore to a construction site in Ashok Nagar. It took an hour for the lorry to be moved after the cement bags were removed. SADANAND During my formative college days, hostel rooms were perhaps 8 feet by 8 feet for a quartet of an assortment of the southern tongues. I was a fresher (my mother & co having gone back to Kerala, the God s own country ) and there was a 6-foot tall Telugu chap of 16, a South Arcot Muslim chap, a Tamilian from Kancheepuram and I, a Malayalee, in the Umadabag Hostel on Mount Road within the Govt. Arts College campus. Young tongues talk and talk and, like most hostlers, the rest of the night is spent in murdering the trillions of mosquitoes licensed by God to free treats of the best young blood. The poly-tongued room mates, while at the night hunt, were at their loquacious best on the topic of a leader called Annadurai, which went right over my head. But I pretended to be abreast of the new southern breed of leaders and lent my ears unsparingly. Though Keralayeen E.M.S.Namboodiripad had risen above the crowd and stuttered miles ahead in the political circus, Anna gave the powers that be sleepless nights. Thiruvengadam, my room mate, was an ardent Anna worshipper who would tongue- lash anyone who said a word against the leader. After my ascension to Presidency college, I never saw Thiru, naturally because he had by then conquered space and gone up to be in the reception committee to welcome Anna who had made many snuff sellers in Madras millionaires, and they influenced the Corporation to name the housing complex Anna Nagar.
